4. Device Overview and Components

5. Setup
5.1. Battery Installation
The device requires 1.5V AAA batteries (NOT INCLUDED). Ensure correct polarity when inserting the batteries.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the rear of the device.
- Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert 2 or 3 AAA batteries (depending on model) according to the polarity indicators (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

6. Operation
6.1. Power On/Off
- Press the Power button to turn the device on.
- Press and hold the Power button to turn the device off.
- The device will automatically power off after 180 seconds of inactivity.
6.2. Changing Measurement Reference
The device can measure from its front or rear end. Press the Measuring Reference Selection key to toggle between these options. The current reference point will be indicated on the display.
6.3. Changing Measurement Units
Press the FUNC button repeatedly until the desired unit (m, in, ft, ft/in) is displayed.
6.4. Basic Measurement (Single Measurement)
- Turn on the device.
- Ensure the device is in single measurement mode (usually the default).
- Aim the laser at the target point.
- Press the MEAS button. The measured distance will be displayed instantly.

6.5. Continuous Measurement
This mode allows for real-time distance tracking as you move the device.
- Press the FUNC button until the continuous measurement icon appears on the display.
- Press MEAS to start continuous measurement. The display will show current, maximum, and minimum distances.
- Move the device to track distances.
- Press MEAS again or CLEAR to stop.

6.6. Area Measurement
- Press the FUNC button until the area measurement icon (square) appears.
- Press MEAS to measure the first side (length).
- Press MEAS again to measure the second side (width).
- The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

6.7. Volume Measurement
- Press the FUNC button until the volume measurement icon (cube) appears.
- Press MEAS to measure the length.
- Press MEAS to measure the width.
- Press MEAS to measure the height.
- The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.

6.8. Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect Measurement)
This mode is used to calculate inaccessible heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem.
- Press the FUNC button until the Pythagorean icon appears (e.g., a triangle).
- Follow the on-screen prompts to measure the required sides (e.g., hypotenuse and one leg for height).
- The device will calculate and display the unknown dimension.

6.9. Data Storage and Recall
The device can store up to 20 sets of data. To recall stored data, press the FUNC button until the data storage icon appears, then use the +/- buttons to navigate through the stored measurements.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
- Water/Dust Protection: The IP54 rating provides protection against dust ingress and splashing water. Do not immerse the device in water.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
