7. Operating Modes
The inverter offers flexible operation with various charging and output modes:
7.1 Charging Modes
- Only Solar: Charges batteries exclusively from solar panels.
- Mains Priority: Prioritizes charging from the AC utility/generator, using solar only when AC is unavailable or insufficient.
- Solar Priority: Prioritizes charging from solar panels, using AC utility/generator only when solar power is insufficient.
- Mains & Solar Hybrid Charging: Utilizes both AC utility/generator and solar panels simultaneously for charging, optimizing charging speed.
7.2 Output Modes
- Mains Bypass: The inverter passes AC utility power directly to the loads.
- Inverter Output: The inverter converts DC battery power to AC for the loads. This mode is active when utility power is unavailable or when configured for battery priority.
7.3 Power Saving Mode
Activate the power saving mode to reduce no-load loss when the inverter is not actively supplying power to loads. This helps conserve battery energy.
7.4 Monitoring and Control
The inverter features an LCD screen and 3 LED indicators for real-time display of system data and operating status. For advanced monitoring and control, the SmartESS App can be used with an optional WiFi/GPRS data acquisition module.

Image 6: Screenshot showing the SmartESS App interface for monitoring and control, with icons for App Store and Google Play. Note: WiFi/GPRS data acquisition module is optional and needs to be purchased separately.
8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the exterior of the inverter with a dry cloth. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris.
- Fan Maintenance: The intelligent variable speed fan helps dissipate heat. Ensure the fan is not obstructed and operates freely.
- Connections: Periodically check all electrical connections for tightness and corrosion.
- Battery Health: Monitor battery voltage and performance. Follow battery manufacturer guidelines for maintenance.

9. Troubleshooting
The inverter is equipped with 360° all-round protection functions to ensure safe operation. If an issue occurs, the LCD display and LED indicators will provide diagnostic information.
- Overload Protection: If the load connected exceeds the inverter's capacity (3200W rated, 6000VA peak), the inverter will shut down. Reduce the load and restart the unit.
- Short-Circuit Protection: In case of a short circuit on the output, the inverter will protect itself by shutting down. Identify and resolve the short circuit before restarting.
- Over/Under Voltage Protection: The inverter will protect itself and connected batteries from abnormal voltage levels (AC input, battery, or PV). Check voltage sources and battery health.
- Charge Short Protection: Protects against short circuits in the charging circuit.
- AC Reverse Protection: Prevents damage from incorrect AC input polarity.
- Bypass Over Current Protection: Protects the bypass circuit from excessive current.
- Battery Over/Low Voltage Protection: Ensures battery health by preventing overcharging or deep discharge.
- Parallel Connection Error Protection: If multiple inverters are used in parallel (if supported by model), this protection prevents errors in configuration.
For persistent issues, consult the detailed troubleshooting section in the full product manual or contact customer support.
10. User Tips
- Solar Panel Sizing: To ensure optimal performance, calculate the number of solar panels needed based on the inverter's maximum PV input power (1600W) and the PV operating voltage range (30-108Vdc). Ensure the total open circuit voltage of your solar array does not exceed 108Vdc and the total power does not exceed 1600W.
- Wiring Configuration: When connecting multiple solar panels, refer to the wiring diagram (Image 4) for guidance on series and parallel configurations to meet the required voltage and power specifications. For example, if using 100W 12V panels, you would need to wire them in series to reach the minimum 30V operating voltage and then potentially parallel strings to reach the desired power without exceeding 1600W or 108Vdc.
- Battery Compatibility: The inverter supports both lead-acid and lithium batteries. Ensure your battery type is correctly configured in the inverter settings for proper charging and discharge management.
