Setup
1. Mounting the Sensor
The sensor comes with a multi-angle magnetic bracket for flexible installation. The sensor itself has a magnetic attraction function, allowing it to directly attach to iron surfaces (e.g., iron table corners, frames, steel beams). Alternatively, you can use the provided double-sided adhesive to secure the bracket to any desired area, such as a wall or ceiling. The bracket allows for angle adjustment to optimize detection.
2. Powering On
Connect the sensor to a power source using the provided USB Type-C cable and a DC 5V 1A adapter (not included).
3. Network Connection
The sensor is available in ZigBee and WiFi versions:
-
ZigBee Version: Requires a Tuya ZigBee gateway (hub) to function as the central bridge for all Tuya ZigBee smart devices. The hub is not included with the sensor. A Tuya ZigBee hub is highly recommended for wider compatibility.
ZigBee Sensor requires a ZigBee Hub (not included) - WiFi Version: Does not require a separate hub and connects directly to your WiFi network.
For Home Assistant users who wish to integrate the ZigBee version with ZigBee2mqtt, please download the necessary JS file from the following link: https://github.com/wzwenzhi/Wenzhi-ZigBee2mqtt
Operating Instructions
1. Detection Functions
The sensor offers various detection capabilities:
- Fretting Detection: Detects small movements such as head tilting, waving, hand raising, body flicking, mobile phone use, book turning, etc.
- Presence Detection: Detects the human body in a stationary state.
- Motion Detection: Detects movements like walking, trotting, fast running, circling, and jumping.
- Distance Measurement: Accurately filters targets outside the defined area.
2. App Integration and Parameter Adjustment
The sensor integrates with the Tuya Smart Life APP, allowing you to monitor illuminance and set various detection parameters.
- Illuminance Detection: The sensor can detect light intensity (0-9999.9 LUX). This feature can be linked with smart scenes to automatically control lights based on brightness changes.
- Adjustable Parameters: Through the app, you can fine-tune settings such as:
- Detection Shield: The closest detectable distance for a target.
- Detection Range: The farthest detectable distance for a target.
- Trigger Distance: The distance at which the sensor is triggered from an 'unoccupied' state.
- Maintain Sensitivity: Sensitivity for continuous detection in an 'occupied' state.
- Trigger Sensitivity: Sensitivity for triggering the sensor from an 'unoccupied' state.
- Departure Delay: Delay before reporting an 'unoccupied' state after a target disappears.
- Entry Filter Time: Time to confirm and report an 'occupied' state after detection.
- Block Time: Period during which the sensor does not detect targets after transitioning from 'occupied' to 'unoccupied'.
- Status Indication: Toggle for the indicator light.
- Sensor Operational Status: View the sensor's current operational status.
- Range Report Mode: Target Distance Reporting Mode.
3. Debug Mode
The debug mode assists in finding the most suitable detection distance and eliminating interference sources. It is off by default.
- When debug mode is ON, the indicator light illuminates if someone is detected within range, and data reporting is activated.
- If no one is detected, the indicator light turns off.
- The 'Timely distance' display helps identify interference sources.
- If the radar does not detect a target during a countdown, it enters the countdown state.
4. Range Report Mode Settings
Setting the sensor to "report at trigger" can significantly reduce reporting logs, which is beneficial for network efficiency, especially for ZigBee networks.
- For 5.8G Version (ZigBee2mqtt): Set to "report at trigger".
- For 24G Version (Smart Life app): Turn off illuminance, distance, and speed report switches to reduce logs.
5. Exclusive Features for 24G Version
The 24G version offers enhanced control and calibration:
- Quick Parameter Calibration: In unmanned mode, a dedicated button allows for quick calibration of parameters.
- Distance Partition Sensitivity: Supports setting parameters by distance partition. You can close specific range gate intervals to prevent detection in those zones. Sensitivity can be set to "High", "Midst", or "Low" for each range gate, or customized by adjusting the detection threshold. Increasing the motion/presence threshold decreases sensitivity.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the sensor's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Tuya Smart Life APP for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.
- Placement: Ensure the sensor is not obstructed by furniture or other objects that could interfere with its detection capabilities.
Troubleshooting
- Sensor Not Detecting:
- Check power connection.
- Ensure the sensor is within its specified detection range.
- Use the Debug Mode in the app to identify and eliminate interference sources.
- Verify sensitivity settings in the app are appropriate for your environment.
- Frequent or Excessive Reporting:
- Adjust the Range Report Mode to "report at trigger" to reduce log frequency.
- For 24G versions, turn off unnecessary report switches (illuminance, distance, speed) in the app.
- ZigBee Connection Issues:
- Ensure your ZigBee hub is powered on and properly connected to your network.
- Verify the sensor is within range of the ZigBee hub.
- If using Home Assistant with ZigBee2mqtt, ensure the necessary JS file is installed as per the provided GitHub link.
User Tips
- Home Assistant Integration: The ZigBee version of this sensor is compatible with Home Assistant via ZigBee2mqtt. Ensure you follow the instructions to download and install the specific JS file for proper integration.
- Optimizing Detection: Utilize the Debug Mode to fine-tune the sensor's placement and sensitivity settings, especially in complex environments, to achieve the most accurate detection and minimize false triggers.
- Network Efficiency: For ZigBee users, setting the "Range Report Mode" to "report at trigger" can significantly reduce network traffic and improve overall system responsiveness.
