5. Setup Instructions

1. Check Laptop Compatibility: Ensure your laptop has a fully functional USB-C port that supports charging, data transfer, and video output (DisplayPort Alternate Mode) or a Thunderbolt 3/4 port. If unsure, consult your laptop's manual or manufacturer.

2. Connect Power Adapter (Recommended): For stable operation, especially when connecting multiple displays or power-hungry devices, plug your laptop's power adapter into the docking station's USB-C PD port. This ensures your laptop receives power through the docking station.

6. Operating Instructions

Display Configuration:

The docking station supports various display modes, including Extend and Mirror, allowing you to customize your workspace. The maximum resolution and refresh rate depend on your specific docking station model and the capabilities of your host device and monitors.

For Windows Systems (DP1.4):

Windows systems typically support Multi-Stream Transport (MST), allowing for extended displays where each external monitor shows independent content.

Multiple Display for Windows (DP1.4)

• Extend Mode: Each connected monitor can display different content, expanding your desktop workspace.
• Mirror Mode: All connected monitors display the same content as your laptop screen.
• Resolution: When using HDMI 1 only, resolutions up to 4K@60Hz are supported. With dual monitors, HDMI resolutions will typically be 4K@30Hz (depending on your computer's desktop resolution).

For macOS Systems (DP1.4):

Due to macOS limitations, Multi-Stream Transport (MST) display is generally not supported. External monitors will typically mirror each other or extend from the laptop display as a single mirrored output.

• Extend Mode: External monitors will display the same content, extending from your laptop.
• Mirror Mode: All connected monitors will mirror your laptop's display.
• Important Note: macOS does not support Multi-Stream Transport (MST) Display. This means that even in 'Extend Mode', the external monitors will show identical content, not independent displays. This limitation also applies to MacBook Pro/Air/Mini M1 models.

Data Transfer:

Connect your USB devices to the appropriate ports. The docking station supports:

• USB-C 3.1 and USB-A 3.1 ports for speeds up to 10Gbps.
• USB-A 3.0 ports for speeds up to 5Gbps.
• USB-A 2.0 ports for speeds up to 480Mbps, ideal for wireless peripherals like mice and keyboards to minimize delay.
• SD and Micro SD card slots for transferring photos and files at speeds up to 104MB/s (read) and 80MB/s (write). Note that actual speeds may vary based on the card's limitations.

Plug an Ethernet cable into the RJ45 port for a stable wired internet connection, supporting speeds up to 1000Mbps (Gigabit Ethernet).

Audio:

Use the 3.5mm Audio/Mic jack for connecting headphones, speakers, or microphones (TRRS, CTIA Standard) for simultaneous audio playback and voice output.

• No Display Output:
  - Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports video output (DP Alt Mode) or is a Thunderbolt 3/4 port.

  - Verify that your monitors are set to the correct input source.
  - For macOS, remember that MST (Multi-Stream Transport) is not supported, so external monitors will mirror each other.
• Intermittent Display Blackout:
  - During data transfer or initial connection, the display may blackout for a few seconds (up to 1 minute). This is normal for Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) negotiation between devices. Please wait patiently.
  - Ensure the laptop's power adapter is connected to the docking station's PD port for stable power delivery, especially with multiple displays.
• No Data Transfer/Slow Speeds:
  - Ensure USB devices are properly seated in their ports.
  - Check if the connected USB device is functioning correctly.
  - For optimal speeds, use USB 3.0/3.1 ports for high-bandwidth devices.
• No Network Connection:
  - Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the docking station and your router/modem.
  - Check your network settings on your laptop.
  - Ensure your router/modem is functioning correctly.
• Laptop Not Charging:
  - Ensure your laptop's original power adapter is connected to the docking station's USB-C PD port.
  - Verify that your laptop supports charging via USB-C PD.
