2. Setup and Connection
Device Components and Indicators:
- F1 Button: Read the current fault code quickly.

Connecting to Your Vehicle:
- Locate the OBD Interface: The OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) interface is typically a 16-pin connector. Its location varies by vehicle model, but it is commonly found in the inner panel at the lower left of the instrument panel, often above the accelerator pedal. Refer to your vehicle's manual or the diagram below for common locations.
- Insert the Device: Plug the V521 OBD2 Scanner into the vehicle's OBD interface.
- Start the Vehicle: Turn on your car's ignition (or start the engine, depending on the diagnostic task). The device will power on automatically.
- Check Connection Status: Observe the indicator lights on the V521. A green light indicates a successful connection. A yellow light indicates a connection failure, and a red light indicates a fault code has been detected.

3. Operating Instructions
Once connected and powered on, use the direction keys to navigate the main menu and the OK button to select options.
3.1. Reading and Clearing Fault Codes
- From the main menu, select 'OBD/EOBD' or 'DTC Lookup'.
- If prompted, select your vehicle's manufacturer.
- The device will link to the vehicle and display system status or trouble codes.
- To clear codes, navigate to the 'Erase Codes' option (if available in your menu) and confirm.
3.2. Data Stream
The 'Data Stream' function allows you to view various real-time parameters of your car's engine. Select 'Data Stream' from the main menu, then 'View the data' to see live sensor readings and other vehicle parameters.
3.3. Fault Code Query (DTC Lookup)
If you have a specific fault code (DTC) and want to understand its meaning, select 'DTC Lookup' from the main menu. You can then input the code using the direction keys to change digits and confirm to view its description.
3.4. Cloud Print
The V521 features a 'Cloud Print' function. This allows you to generate a QR code containing diagnostic data (fault codes, data stream, freeze frame data). You can then scan this QR code with a mobile phone to save the data or print it out.
3.5. Battery Voltage Reading
To check your car's battery voltage, select 'Voltage' from the main menu. The device will display the current battery voltage.
3.6. Performance Test
The V521 can perform various performance tests, including acceleration testing (e.g., 0-100 km/h), brake testing, and distance testing. It also provides instrument data such as load value, coolant temperature, total mileage, and instantaneous fuel consumption.

4.1. Software Upgrade

5. Troubleshooting

- Yellow Indicator Light: This indicates a connection failure. Re-check the connection to the OBD port. Ensure the vehicle is compatible with the V521 scanner.
- Red Indicator Light: This indicates that a fault code has been found in the vehicle's system. Proceed to the 'Reading Fault Codes' section to diagnose the issue.
- No Communication with Vehicle: Verify that your vehicle is OBD-II compliant (most vehicles manufactured after 1996 in the US, 2001 in the EU for petrol, and 2004 for diesel). Ensure the vehicle's battery has sufficient charge.
- Compatibility Issues: The V521 does not support Diesel or Truck vehicles. It also requires a standard 16-pin OBD adapter. If your vehicle is not OBDII certified (check under the engine hood), the scanner may not function correctly.
