3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
- Align the 2200 mAh Li-ion battery pack with the compartment.
- Gently push the battery into place until it clicks securely.
3.2 Charging the Battery
The TD-777S features a convenient USB charging method. Before initial use, fully charge the battery.
- Connect the USB charging cable to the radio's charging port.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to the provided USB charger.
- Plug the USB charger into a standard wall outlet. Alternatively, you can use a power bank or vehicle adapter for charging outdoors.
- The charging indicator will show the charging status. A full charge typically takes approximately 4 hours.

3.3 Attaching Accessories
- Belt Clip: Attach the belt clip to the designated slot on the back of the radio for easy carrying.
- Hand Strap: Secure the hand strap through the loop on the radio to prevent accidental drops.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control
- Power On: Rotate the top-left knob clockwise until you hear a click. The radio will emit a voice prompt indicating it's powered on.
- Volume Control: Continue rotating the same knob clockwise to increase volume, and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
- Power Off: Rotate the knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click and the radio powers down.
4.2 Channel Selection
The TD-777S supports 22 channels. To select a channel:
- Rotate the top-right knob to cycle through the available channels.
- The radio will provide a voice prompt announcing the selected channel number.
- Ensure all radios in your group are set to the same channel for communication.
4.3 Transmitting and Receiving
- To Transmit: Press and hold the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button when finished speaking.
- To Receive: The radio will automatically receive transmissions when not transmitting and on the correct channel.

4.4 Advanced Features
- VOX (Voice Operated Exchange): Allows hands-free transmission when your voice is detected. Refer to the full manual for activation and sensitivity settings.
- Monitor Function: Temporarily disables squelch to listen to weak signals on a channel.
- Voice Prompts: Provides audible feedback for channel changes, power status, and other functions.
- Squelch System: The TD-777S features 0-9 grades of squelch to suppress background noise. Higher grades reduce noise but may filter out weak signals.
- Scan Function: Short press the second side key to activate scan. This feature allows you to find active channels and join conversations quickly.
- Emergency Alarm: Long press the second side key to activate the emergency alarm, which emits a loud sound to alert others to your situation.
- CTCSS & DCS (Security): These codes help filter out unwanted conversations, ensuring private communication. You can select your own CTCSS/DCS codes to communicate only with radios set to the same code on the same channel.
- Power Save Function: Automatically conserves battery power during periods of inactivity.
