The XTOOL D5 is a compact and powerful automotive diagnostic tool designed for efficient vehicle repair and maintenance. 2. Package Contents
Upon opening your XTOOL D5 package, please verify that all the following items are included:
- 1 x XTOOL D5 Tablet
- 1 x Diagnostic Main Line
- 1 x Charging Cable (Type-C)
- 1 x Quick Start Guide

3. Setup
3.1 Initial Power On and Charging
Before first use, ensure the XTOOL D5 is fully charged. Connect the provided Type-C charging cable to the device and a suitable power source. The device is equipped with a 3150mAh 3.6V built-in battery.
3.2 Language Settings
The XTOOL D5 supports 15 languages. English is the default language. To change the language:
- Activate the device using your email address and the serial number.
- If you require a language other than English, please contact customer support with your device's serial number (found on the back of the device or in the 'About' section of the tool) to authorize the desired language.
- Navigate to 'Settings' on the device and select your preferred language.
- Click 'Update Device' to apply the language change.

3.3 Software Updates
The XTOOL D5 offers lifetime free software updates. To update the software:
- Ensure the device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
- On the XTOOL D5, tap the "Update" option.
- The device will check for available updates.
- Select the software you wish to download and install.
- After the update is complete, restart the device.
3.4 Connecting to a Vehicle
Connect the diagnostic main line to the DB15 port on the XTOOL D5 and the other end to your vehicle's OBD2 port. The device is compatible with OBDII-compliant vehicles manufactured after 1996.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Auto VIN & Auto Scan
The Auto VIN & Auto Scan feature automatically identifies your vehicle's make, model, year, and engine type, then performs a comprehensive scan of the vehicle's on-board systems. This simplifies the diagnostic process by quickly assessing the health of various modules like Engine, Transmission, Airbag, ABS, and EPB for diagnostic fault codes (DTCs).
- Auto Scan: Automatically identifies vehicle information and scans for DTCs.
- Manual Input VIN: For vehicles not automatically identified, you can manually enter the VIN.
- Automatic Detection: Allows the system to detect the vehicle type.
- Manual Selection: Manually select the vehicle make, model, and year.

4.2 5 Systems Diagnostic
The XTOOL D5 supports diagnostics for the following five key vehicle systems:
- Engine: Read and clear engine error codes, view live data, O2 sensor test, component test, and turn off the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
- Transmission: Identify and troubleshoot issues within the vehicle's transmission system.
- Airbag (SRS): Assess and troubleshoot the airbag system to ensure correct and safe function.
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS): View live data stream, retrieve fault codes, and turn off the ABS warning light.
- Electronic Parking Brake (EPB): Diagnose issues related to the electronic parking brake system.

4.3 Full OBD2 Functions
The XTOOL D5 provides comprehensive OBD2 functionality for emission-related diagnostics:
- Read Trouble Codes: Displays detailed descriptions of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
- Clear Trouble Codes: Clears DTCs and resets monitors.
- Live Data: Shows continuous data stream from the vehicle in a live graphic display.
- Read Freeze Frame: Checks vehicle conditions recorded by the on-board computer when an emission-related fault occurs.
- Read ECU Information: Displays information such as VIN, Calibration ID (CID), and Calibration Verification Number (CVN).
- Component Test: Actuates certain vehicle components via commands from the scanner to test their operability.
- On-Board Monitor Test: Retrieves and displays test results for emission-related powertrain components and systems.
- O2 Sensor Monitoring Test: Allows retrieval and viewing of O2 sensor monitor test results.
- I/M Readiness: Indicates whether various emissions-related systems are operating properly and ready for inspection.
- Read Vehicle Information: Displays VIN, CID, and CVN.

4.4 Live Data Graphing
The XTOOL D5 can merge and display up to 4 data streams simultaneously in one view, allowing for real-time tracking of data changes. This feature is crucial for diagnosing intermittent issues and monitoring system performance over time.
- Data Recording: Record real-time data streams for later review and troubleshooting.
- Data Export: Export recorded data as a CSV file for detailed analysis.

4.5 DTC Library Lookup
The device includes an online DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) library. You can enter a fault code to view its meaning and related information, which helps in understanding vehicle issues and facilitating effective repairs.

4.6 Diagnostic Report Generation
After completing a vehicle scan, the XTOOL D5 can generate a comprehensive diagnostic report. This report includes fault codes (DTCs), system status, and test results. The report can be shared or printed for record-keeping or client communication.

5. Maintenance Functions

- Oil Light Reset: Resets the engine oil life system for accurate tracking of oil change intervals.
- Tire Pressure Reset (TPMS Reset): Resets the Tire Pressure Monitoring System after tire pressure adjustments or sensor replacement.
- ABS Bleeding: Performs bleeding of the brake system to restore ABS braking sensitivity.
- Throttle Relearn: Resets the throttle to regulate engine operations smoothly.
- EPB Reset: Resets calipers, brake discs, or pads after electronic parking brake system repairs.
- DPF Regeneration (DPF/GPF After-Treatment): Clears diesel particulate matter from the filter.
- BMS Battery Adaption: Reconfigures the battery management system after battery replacement.
- SAS Adjustment (Steering Angle Sensor): Clears fault memories and performs reset for the steering angle sensor.

6. Troubleshooting
- Incomplete System Display: If not all five diagnostic systems (Engine, Transmission, Airbag, ABS, EPB) are displayed, it may be due to some vehicles integrating two or more systems. Always check vehicle compatibility before purchasing or performing diagnostics.
- Device Not Responding: Ensure the device is fully charged. If the issue persists, try restarting the device.
- Connection Issues: Verify that the diagnostic main line is securely connected to both the XTOOL D5 and the vehicle's OBD2 port.
- Software Glitches: Perform a software update to ensure you have the latest version, which may resolve known bugs.
