Safety Information

Contraindications (Do Not Use If)

  • You are under the age of 16.
  • The skin in the treatment area is tanned or burned.
  • You are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breast-feeding.
  • You have epilepsy or light-induced seizures or migraines.
  • You have tattoos, dark brown or black spots (e.g., dark freckles, birthmarks, moles, or warts) in the treatment area.
  • You intend to use it on the head, ears, necks, nipples, genitalia, or around the anus.
  • You have any active skin condition in the treatment area, including acne, sores, psoriasis, eczema, burns, herpes simplex, wounds, or a rash.
  • You have a history of keloidal scar formation, known photosensitivity, or are taking medication that increases skin sensitivity to light (e.g., aspirins, ibuprofens, cetaminophen, tetracyclines, phenothiazines, thiazide, diuretics, sulfonylureas, sulfonamides, DTIC, fluorouracil, vinblastine, griseofulvin, Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHAs), Retin-A, Accutane, and/or topical retinoids).
  • You have a disease related to photosensitivity, such as porphyria, polymorphic light eruption, solar urticaria, or lupus.

Operation Cautions

  • Always wear the provided goggles during operation. Do not look directly at the light flashes.
  • Clean the skin treatment area thoroughly before operation. Avoid applying cosmetics to prevent damage to the instrument and ensure effective results.
  • Start with a low energy level and gradually increase it. Higher energy levels can yield better results, but always prioritize safety. Mild skin redness after treatment is normal; applying an ice pad is recommended.
  • Use skin moisture and sunblock products after phototherapy treatment.
  • After treatment, apply pure plant moisture and repair cosmetics.
  • After use, power off the device and clean the treatment window with a wet cotton swab or cloth to prevent hair and carbon residue buildup, which can affect light energy.
  • Only use a dry cloth or non-alcohol wet cloth to clean the exterior of the device.
  • Avoid exposing the system and accessories to liquids or humid environments.
  • Store the instrument in a ventilated and dry environment, away from children.
  • Do not insert metal objects into the heat emission holes to avoid electric shock.
  • If the system gets wet, power it off immediately and send it to the manufacturer for examination. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair it yourself.
  • If the device does not operate normally, send it to the manufacturer for repair.

Setup and Operation

Skin Sensitivity Test

Before full treatment, perform a skin sensitivity test:

  1. Choose a small area on your body.
  2. Start with energy level 1 and apply a flash.
  3. Gradually increase the energy level in other small areas, noting your skin's tolerance.
  4. After 60 minutes, check your skin for any reactions. If your skin appears normal without redness or irritation, you are ready for full treatment.
  5. If redness or discomfort occurs, use a lower energy level or avoid using the system on that area.

Choosing Energy Level

The T4 device offers 5 energy levels, with level 1 being the lowest and level 5 the highest. Darker skin tones absorb more light energy, so users with darker skin should be cautious with higher levels. It is recommended for users with darker skin to start with levels 1 to 3. Users with lighter skin can choose a suitable energy level based on their sensitivity test results. Allow at least 20 seconds between flashes on previously treated skin areas.

Skin and Hair Color Compatibility

The effectiveness of IPL hair removal varies with skin and hair color. Refer to the table below to determine suitability:

Skin and hair color comparison table for IPL device suitability.
Figure 3: Skin and Hair Color Compatibility Chart.

Applicable: Works perfectly for your skin and hair type.

Noticeable: If your skin is brown, use with caution. Start with a low energy level and check skin condition after the test. Some sensitive skin may show redness or slight burn, which is normal. Apply aloe gel for skin repair after treatment.

Not Applicable: Avoid using this device if your skin or hair color falls into this category.

Operation Procedure

Follow these steps for effective hair removal:

  1. Prepare Skin: Clean the skin and shave the hair in the treatment area. It is recommended to shave hair 2 hours before operation.
  2. Connect Device: Clean the lamp window and connect the device to the power supply.
  3. Power On & Select Energy: Long press the power button (2 seconds) to turn on the device. Choose a suitable energy level, starting from low to high.
  4. Wear Goggles: Put on the provided goggles to protect your eyes from IPL light.
  5. Apply Treatment: Let the treatment window touch the treated area vertically. Move the lamp port position after each flash, ensuring no overlap or missed areas. Treat all hair removal areas in sequence.
  6. Repeat Treatment: Repeat step 5, starting from the initial position. Treat the entire area approximately 3-4 times.
  7. Post-Treatment Care: After finishing treatment, press the ice button to cool the skin or apply moisture gel 15 minutes later. You can also use the ice button during hair removal.
  8. Clean & Store: Power off and disconnect the adapter. Use a wet cloth or cotton pad to clean the lamp treatment window. Place the device and accessories back into the package and store in a safe place.

Treatment Schedule

A typical treatment course involves 7-9 sessions:

  • First 3 treatments: One treatment per week.
  • Following 4-9 treatments: One treatment every 2-3 weeks.
  • Maintenance period: One treatment every 2 months for areas with hair regrowth.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your MLAY T4 device:

  • After each use, power off the device and clean the treatment window with a wet cotton swab or cloth. This prevents hair and carbon residue from sticking to the glass and affecting the energy of the light flashes.
  • For the exterior of the device, use a dry, soft cloth or a non-alcohol wet cloth for cleaning.
  • Store the device and its accessories in a ventilated and dry environment, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

User Tips

  • Optimal Contact: Ensure the lamp head makes full contact with the skin. The hair removal effect is directly related to the amount of energy delivered, and good contact ensures the light reaches hair follicles effectively.
  • Gradual Introduction: For first-time users, always start with energy level 1. Test a small area on your limbs, wait 8-12 hours, and proceed with larger areas only if no discomfort occurs.
  • Avoid Over-Treatment: Treat a specific spot area only once or twice per session. Do not repeatedly treat the same spot in a single session.
  • Post-Treatment Cooling: After treatment, cool down the skin for 2-3 minutes. For facial hair removal, wait two weeks after body hair removal and always start with energy level 1 on the face to prevent irritation.
  • Ice Cooling Feature: The integrated ice cooling function helps minimize discomfort during treatment. Utilize this feature for a more comfortable experience.
  • Flash Count: The device comes with 500,000 flashes. The lamp head is replaceable, allowing for continued use once the initial flashes are depleted.
