2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Initial Power-On

Upon receiving your LAUNCH X431 CRP129E V3.0, carefully unpack all components. The package should include the Creader Professional 129E V3.0 handset, an OBD II diagnostic cable, a DC 5V charging cable, a user manual, and a carrying bag.

Power on the device. You may need to charge it using the provided DC 5V charging cable if the battery is low. The device runs on Android 8.1 OS.

2.2 Language Selection

The device supports multiple languages. Navigate to the settings menu to select your preferred language from English, French, Spanish, German, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Russian, and Polish.

2.3 Connecting to the Vehicle

Locate your vehicle's OBD II port, typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side. Connect the provided OBD II diagnostic cable to the scanner and then to the vehicle's OBD II port. Ensure a secure connection.

2.4 Wi-Fi Connection and Software Update

Connect the device to a Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz & 5.0GHz supported) to enable lifetime free software updates. Regular updates ensure compatibility with new vehicle models and access to the latest diagnostic features.

3. Operating the Scanner

3.1 Auto VIN Identification

The scanner features AUTO VIN technology to automatically identify vehicle make, model, and year information. This streamlines the diagnostic process. After successful VIN acquisition, the system will scan vehicle systems and generate a diagnostic report.

Note: For vehicles not supporting the Auto VIN Scan function, you may manually enter the vehicle VIN.

3.2 4-System Diagnostics

The CRP129E V3.0 can diagnose four core vehicle systems:

  • Engine System Diagnosis: Reads and clears Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and views Live Data Stream to pinpoint engine problems and turn off warning lights.
  • ABS System Diagnosis: Accesses the Anti-lock Braking System to view Live Data Stream and retrieve fault codes, helping to troubleshoot ABS issues and turn off warning lights.
  • SRS System Diagnosis: Detects electronic parameters in the Supplemental Restraint System (Airbag) to check health status, address potential issues, and turn off airbag warning lights.
  • Transmission System Diagnosis: Checks the Transmission system by reading codes and viewing Live Data to ensure proper power delivery to the wheels and turn off warning lights.

3.3 12+ Reset Service Functions

The scanner provides access to over 12 special reset functions for common maintenance tasks:

  1. Oil Lamp Reset Service: Resets the Engine Oil Life system after an oil change.
  2. SAS Steering Angle Sensor Reset: Resets the steering angle to zero for proper vehicle alignment.
  3. Electronic Throttle Position Reset: Initializes throttle actuators and returns learned values to default for accurate air intake control.
  4. BMS Reset/Battery Matching: Resets the vehicle battery monitoring unit, clearing old fault information and performing battery matching.
  5. DPF Reset: Clears Particulate Matter (PM) from the Diesel Particulate Filter through regeneration.
  6. Injector Coding: Writes or rewrites injector codes in the ECU for precise cylinder injection quantity control.
  7. RESET ETS/ELEC.THROTTLE RLRN: Initializes the throttle actuator to return the ECU's learning value to its initial state.
  8. ABS Bleeding: Performs bleeding of the ABS system.
  9. TPMS Reset: Resets the Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
  10. AFS Reset: Resets the Adaptive Front-lighting System.
  11. A/F Adjust: Adjusts the Air/Fuel Ratio.
  12. AdBlue Reset: Resets the AdBlue system.
