Setup Instructions

  1. Mounting the Radio: Secure the mobile radio unit in a suitable location within your vehicle using the provided mounting bracket and screws. Ensure it is easily accessible but does not obstruct driving.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the power cable to the radio's power input. Route the other end of the power cable directly to your vehicle's 12V power source (e.g., battery) ensuring proper polarity (red to positive, black to negative) and using the included fuse for protection.
  3. Antenna Connection: Connect a suitable dual-band mobile antenna (not included) to the antenna connector on the rear of the radio unit. Ensure the connection is tight and secure.
  4. Microphone Connection: Plug the microphone cable into the designated port on the front of the radio unit.
  5. External Speaker (Optional): If using an external speaker (not included), connect it to the appropriate audio output port on the radio.
  6. Initial Power On: Once all connections are secure, turn on your vehicle's ignition and then power on the radio.
  7. Programming: For advanced channel programming and feature customization, connect the radio to a PC using a programming cable (sold separately) and the appropriate software. Refer to the software's instructions for detailed programming steps.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On/Off: Use the dedicated power button or knob to turn the radio on or off.
  2. Volume Adjustment: Adjust the volume using the control knob on the radio or microphone.
  3. Channel Selection: Use the up/down buttons or keypad on the microphone to select desired channels.
  4. Transmit (PTT): Press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the microphone to transmit. Release to receive.
  5. Frequency/Mode Selection: Use the menu and function buttons to switch between VHF/UHF bands, adjust frequency, and select operating modes (e.g., broadband/narrowband).
  6. DTMF/Tone Functions: Utilize the microphone keypad for DTMF, 2-tone, or 5-tone signaling as programmed.
  7. Patrol/Monitoring: Activate the patrol function to scan through programmed channels or the monitoring function to listen to a specific channel without squelch.
  8. Alarm Function: In emergencies, activate the alarm function via the designated button or menu option.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Environmental Protection: Keep the radio away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, dust, and moisture. This unit is not waterproof.
  • Connection Checks: Periodically check all cable connections (power, antenna, microphone) to ensure they are secure and free from damage.

Troubleshooting

  • No Power:
    • Check the power cable connection to both the radio and the vehicle's power source.
    • Verify the vehicle's 12V power source is active.
    • Inspect the fuse in the power cable; replace if blown.
  • Cannot Transmit or Receive:
    • Ensure the antenna is properly connected.
    • Verify you are on the correct frequency/channel.
    • Check the squelch level; it might be set too high.
    • Confirm the microphone is securely plugged in.
  • Poor Audio Quality:
    • Adjust the volume level.
