4. Setup & Programming
The SMG-008 remote control is a cloning device. It needs to copy the code from your original remote control. The programming method varies depending on whether your original remote uses a fixed code or a rolling code. For rolling code remotes, an additional step of programming/activating on the receiver is required after cloning.

4.1. Fixed Code Duplicating Procedures
- While pressing button 1, press button 2 four times.
- Release both buttons. The LED will emit a quick flash every 2 seconds.
- Place the original remote control in front of the new SMG-008 remote, at a distance of about 4-60 cm.
- Press and hold the button on the original remote control that you wish to copy. Continue holding until the new remote's LED changes its flashing frequency (becomes faster), confirming successful code copy.
- While the LED on the new remote is still flashing, press the button on the new remote where you want to store the copied code. Hold until the LED turns off.
- The code has now been successfully copied.
4.2. Rolling Code Duplicating Procedures
- While pressing button 1, press button 2 four times. Release both buttons. The LED will emit a quick flash every 2 seconds.
- Place the original remote control in front of the new SMG-008 remote, at a distance of about 4-60 cm.
- Press and hold the button on the original remote control that you wish to copy. Continue holding until the new remote's LED turns on with a steady light and then emits a double flash every 2 seconds.
- Now, transmit the seed code of the original remote control by pressing the rear hide button or buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously on the new remote.
- Once the LED flashes quickly, press the button on the new remote where you want to store the copied code until the LED turns off.
- Finally, activate the procedure to insert the new remote control into the receiver of your garage door opener or gate system. Refer to your receiver's manual for specific instructions on how to pair a new remote.

4.3. Auto Matching Code
- Ensure you are close to the automation system (e.g., garage door opener).
- Press and hold the programmed button on the new remote for approximately 10 seconds. Release the button when the LED starts to flash.
- Wait until the LED turns off. The operation is complete, and your new remote control is ready for use.
4.4. Seed Code Emission
NOTE: The seed code can be emitted as follows:
- Press buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously for 8 seconds. Release them when the LED starts to flash.
- While the LED is flashing, press the button corresponding to the seed code needed.

5. Operating Instructions
Once successfully programmed, operating the SMG-008 remote control is straightforward:
- Press the corresponding button (A, B, C, or D) that you have programmed for a specific device.
- The LED indicator on the remote will light up when a button is pressed, indicating signal transmission.
- Ensure you are within the effective radio transmission distance (30-100m in open area) of your receiver for optimal performance.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Battery Replacement
The SMG-008 remote control uses a CR2032 3V coin cell battery. If the remote's range decreases significantly or the LED indicator does not light up, it may be time to replace the battery.
- Carefully open the remote control casing.
- Remove the old CR2032 battery.
- Insert a new CR2032 battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the remote control casing securely.
6.2. Cleaning
To clean the remote control, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the casing or internal components. The IPX6 waterproof rating protects against strong jets of water, but it is not designed for submersion.
7. Troubleshooting
- Cloning Fails: Ensure the original remote has a fresh battery and is placed at the correct distance (4-60 cm) from the new remote during cloning. Some remotes may be more difficult to clone due to their specific encryption.
- Rolling Code Remote Not Working After Cloning: Remember that rolling code remotes require an additional step of programming/activating the new remote directly on your receiver unit after the cloning process. Refer to your receiver's manual for this step.
- LED Indicator Not Lighting Up: Check if the CR2032 battery needs replacement.
- Poor Transmission Range: A weak battery can reduce the transmission range. Replace the battery if necessary. Ensure there are no significant obstructions between the remote and the receiver.
- Incompatible Remote: While the SMG-008 is highly compatible, some very old or very new/proprietary systems might not be supported. Verify your original remote's frequency and encoding type.
8. User Tips
- Always perform cloning in a quiet environment to avoid interference.
- For best results, ensure both the original and new remote controls have fresh batteries before starting the cloning process.
- Keep the detailed instructions provided in the package (or the linked PDF) handy, especially for the receiver programming step for rolling code systems.
- The 4-in-1 capability allows you to consolidate multiple remotes, making it convenient for households with various automated systems.
