2. Safety Information

DANGER: INVISIBLE AND/OR VISIBLE LASER RADIATION. AVOID EYE OR SKIN EXPOSURE TO DIRECT OR SCATTERED RADIATION.

  • Always wear the provided safety goggles when operating the machine to protect your eyes from laser radiation.
  • Ensure the work area is well-ventilated to dissipate any fumes or heat generated during engraving.
  • Familiarize yourself with the emergency stop switch. In case of any malfunction or emergency, immediately press the red emergency stop button to halt operation.
  • Do not operate the machine if any components are damaged or missing.
  • Keep children and pets away from the machine during operation.

5. Setup Guide

5.1 Assembly

  1. Carefully unpack all components from the packaging.
  2. Attach the laser head assembly to the vertical column. Secure it using the provided hexagonal wrench.
  3. Mount the vertical column onto the main base unit. Ensure it is firmly attached.
  4. If using, attach the 20cm raised column for additional working height.

5.2 Power Connection & Initial Start-up

  1. Connect the power cable to the machine and a suitable power outlet. The machine supports 110V/220V, and the plug type will be matched to your region.
  2. Locate the main power switch on the rear of the machine and turn it ON.
  3. The machine features an emergency stop switch (red button). This button is normally in the closed (pressed) position for safety. To start operation, twist or pull the emergency stop button to release it.

5.3 Software Installation

Insert the provided USB flash drive into your computer. Install the engraving software (Lightburn or EZCAD, depending on your machine's motherboard) by following the instructions on the drive or in the manual. Ensure your computer meets the system requirements (Windows XP/7/8/10/11 or Mac OS).

5.4 Focusing

Accurate focusing is crucial for precise engraving results.

  • Mechanical Rotary Focus: Manually adjust the lens height by rotating the focus knob until the laser spot is at its smallest and sharpest point on the material surface.
  • Dual Red Focus: The machine is equipped with an intelligent dual red light fixed focus function. This feature helps to quickly and conveniently adjust the focus and locate the engraving area. Align the two red dots to achieve optimal focus.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Software Operation

  1. Connect the machine to your computer using the data cable.
  2. Launch the engraving software (Lightburn or EZCAD).
  3. Import or create your desired design (image, vector, barcode, 2D code, text). The software supports various formats like PLT, DXF, BMP.
  4. Adjust engraving parameters such as power, speed, and passes according to the material and desired effect.
  5. Use the software's preview function to verify the design and positioning.

6.2 Engraving Process

  1. Place your material securely on the work platform.
  2. Use the dual red light positioning system to accurately align your material with the design in the software.
  3. Ensure proper focus as described in Section 5.4.
  4. Initiate the engraving process from the software. The machine's high-speed galvo system and photoelectric sensor ensure precise laser movement and accurate reproduction of complex lines and patterns.

6.3 Supported Materials & Applications

The DAJA S4 is designed for a wide array of materials:

  • Metals: Gold, silver, aluminum, jewelry, stainless steel, oxidized metals, electroplated metals, iron, copper, zinc, titanium, etc. Ideal for metal pet tags, pendants, bracelets, rings, and industrial marking.
  • Non-metals: Leather, plastics (e.g., plastic buttons, PVC pipe, plastic shells), stone (e.g., rocks), acrylic plates.

6.4 Rotary Engraving (Optional Accessories)

For engraving on curved or cylindrical objects, optional rotary accessories can be used:

  • RT5 360° Rotation Axis: Perfect for cylindrical objects like bottles, cups, or pens. It ensures uniform engraving around the object's circumference.
  • RF2 Removable Rotating Fixture: This versatile fixture is suitable for engraving rings and other irregular objects, offering three different forms for secure holding.

7. Maintenance

  • Clean Lenses: Regularly inspect and clean the laser lens with a soft, lint-free cloth and appropriate lens cleaning solution to ensure optimal laser performance and prevent dust accumulation.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the machine's ventilation openings are clear and unobstructed. The machine features efficient heat dissipation, but proper airflow is essential for longevity.
  • Cable Connections: Periodically check all cable connections for tightness and wear.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the machine and work area clean from debris and dust.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Machine Not Powering On: Check the power cable connection, the main power switch, and ensure the emergency stop button is released (not pressed in).
  • Laser Not Firing/Engraving: Verify the software settings, ensure the material is correctly focused, and check for any error messages in the software.
  • Poor Engraving Quality: Re-check the focus, adjust engraving parameters (power, speed), ensure the material is clean, and inspect the lens for dirt.
  • Software Connection Issues: Ensure the data cable is securely connected to both the machine and the computer. Restart the software and/or computer if necessary.

9. User Tips

  • Computer Control: The DAJA S4 requires a computer (Windows or Mac OS) for operation and cannot be controlled directly via a mobile phone.
  • Material Versatility: This machine is highly versatile. It can engrave on a wide range of materials, including various metals, plastics, leather, and even rocks. This includes engraving names on items like jeans pants.
  • Software Compatibility: The machine supports Lightburn and EZCAD software, offering flexibility for users familiar with either platform.
  • Precision: The S4 boasts ultra-high precision with 0.001mm resolution and a repositioning precision of +0.003mm, making it suitable for intricate designs.
