4. Setup
The Mijia Smart Fish Tank is designed for easy, integrated setup. It comes ready-to-use with minimal assembly required.
4.1 Initial Placement and Preparation
- Place the fish tank on a sturdy, level surface.
- Add your desired substrate (gravel, sand) and decorations to the tank.
- Carefully fill the tank with water, ensuring it is conditioned for fish.
- Connect the power adapter to the tank and then to a power outlet.

4.2 Mi Home App Connection
The fish tank is controlled via the Mi Home App. Please note that this product is the Chinese version, and specific region settings are required for proper functionality.
- Download the Mi Home App from your device's app store.
- Open the Mi Home App and navigate to the settings. Change the region to 'China'.
- Set your preferred language within the app.
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
- In the Mi Home App, search for new devices. The app should detect the Mijia Smart Fish Tank.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to pair the device. If prompted, press and hold the feed and lighting buttons for 3 seconds as shown in the image. When a notification sound is heard, the fish tank is ready to configure the network, and the Wi-Fi indicator blinks white. Once the reset is completed, you can proceed with pairing.

5. Operating Instructions
The Mijia Smart Fish Tank offers various smart features controllable via the Mi Home App.
5.1 Digital Display and Manual Controls
The tank features a digital display for quick information and touch controls for basic functions.
- Digital Display: Touch the digital display to view current information, such as water temperature.
- Lid Operation: Open the lid to access the tank interior. The light will automatically turn off for eye protection when the lid is opened.

5.2 Mi Home App Remote Control
The Mi Home App provides comprehensive control over the fish tank's smart features.
- Remote Feeding: Set regular and quantitative automatic feeding schedules. The patented intelligent food bin ensures smooth food dispensing and can hold enough food for up to 90 days.
- Smart Lighting System: Choose from multi-scene lighting modes (e.g., Night light, Stream wind, South American wind) or customize light colors and duration. The tank features 24 high color rendering LED white light beads and 16 full color gamut RGB light beads for dynamic ecological effects.
- Water Pump Control: Adjust the water pump flow rate (3 gears: High 4L/min, Medium 3L/min, Low 2L/min) according to the type and density of fish.
- Temperature Monitoring: Monitor water temperature in real-time and receive alerts for abnormalities (over-temperature, low temperature). Customize temperature settings based on fish species.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures a healthy environment for your fish and prolongs the life of your smart fish tank.
6.1 Water Changes
The tank features a convenient one-touch drainage design, eliminating the need to carry the tank for water changes.
- Ensure the tank is unplugged from the power source.
- Connect the provided drainage pipe to the drainage hole of the pump module (located on the side).
- Direct the other end of the pipe to a suitable container or drain.
- The side suction pump will discharge water from the tank.
- Once the desired amount of water is removed, disconnect the drainage pipe and refill the tank with conditioned water.

6.2 Filter System Maintenance
The tank utilizes a 5-stage professional-grade compartment module back filter system with self-cleaning features and a patented anti-clogging water pump. The Mi Home App can provide filter material replacement reminders.

6.3 Cleaning the Water Pump
If the water pump's performance decreases or it stops working, it may require cleaning.
- Turn off the fish tank and unplug the power adapter.
- Carefully remove the water pump module from the tank.
- Follow the instructions at the bottom of the module to detach its shell.
- Separate the water pump from the silicone tube and clean both, along with any filter cotton.
- Remove the pump protection cover.
- Using tweezers and cotton balls, remove any impurities from the turbo and spacer.
- Rinse the inside of the pump with clean water.
- Reassemble all components in reverse order.
7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Water Pump Not Working
- Check Power: Ensure the fish tank is properly connected to a power source and the pump is turned on via the app or the physical button.

- Fish Selection: For beginners, it is recommended to keep easy-to-survive tropical ornamental fish such as zebra fish, lamprey, peacock fish, Mary fish, colored skirt fish, pearl fish, or red swordfish.
- Fish Quantity: The 20L capacity tank is suitable for:
- 10-15 adult fish (5-6 cm in size)
- 6-9 adult fish (6-8 cm in size)
- 3-5 adult fish (8-12 cm in size)
- Saltwater Use: This fish tank is primarily designed for freshwater environments. It is not recommended for saltwater fish unless specifically adapted with additional equipment not included.
