2. Safety Information

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage, please observe the following precautions:

  • Do not attempt to install or service the unit yourself. Refer all installation and service to qualified professionals.
  • Ensure the vehicle's power is disconnected before installation to prevent electrical shock or damage.
  • Do not operate the system in a way that distracts you from driving. Always prioritize road safety.
  • Keep the unit away from water, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
  • Use only accessories and parts specified by the manufacturer.
  • Clean the screen with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.

5. Installation Guide

5.1. Compatibility

This multimedia system is designed for the following Porsche models:

  • Porsche 911 (997) 2005-2012
  • Porsche Boxster (987) 2004-2012
  • Porsche Cayman (987C) 2005-2013

5.2. Pre-Installation Notes

  • This model does not have a built-in DVD/CD reader and does not support DVD/CD disc functions.
  • This model does not have a built-in GPS or SD Card Slot. External media can be used via USB cable.
  • The unit features a 9-inch touch screen with 1024*600 resolution.
  • Professional installation is highly recommended.

5.4. Original Car Integration

The system offers two main wiring options depending on your original car's audio system:

  • Standard Version with Sounds Wire (A): For cars without a BOSE or fiber optical amplifier.
  • Bose/Fiber Optical No Sounds Wire (B): For cars equipped with a BOSE or fiber optical amplifier. If your original car has a BOSE or fiber optical amplifier, you will need to purchase a fiber optic box separately.

5.5. Component Installation

  • Cooling Fan: The built-in cooling fan helps manage heat, especially during high-temperature conditions or prolonged use.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. User Interface (UI)

The system features an intuitive Android 13 interface. Various UI themes and layouts are available, allowing for personalization. The UIS7870 UI includes Home, Apps, Bluetooth, Radio, DSP, and Settings screens.

6.2. CarPlay & Android Auto

The system supports built-in wireless/wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Connect your smartphone to display a simplified version of your phone screen on the car radio, allowing access to navigation, music, calls, and more.

  • Apple CarPlay: Connect via Bluetooth (wireless) or USB (wired).

6.3. DSP Tuning

6.4. Radio Function

The system includes a TDA7708 Radio Module with RDS support, offering 54 preset radio stations (FM: 2*18, AM: 1*18). Enjoy clear radio reception with enhanced anti-interference capabilities.

6.5. Bluetooth Connectivity

Equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, the system provides faster transfer speeds, wider coverage, and enhanced anti-interference. It supports hands-free calling with a built-in microphone and external microphone jack, and allows streaming music from Spotify and Pandora.

6.6. Navigation

The system supports satellite navigation using various Android OS compatible navigation software such as Sygic, IGO, Navitel, and Waze. Utilize GPS and GLONASS for accurate positioning.

6.7. Steering Wheel Control

The system is compatible with most steering wheel control functions, allowing you to easily switch songs, channels, and adjust volume without taking your hands off the wheel, enhancing driving safety.

6.8. 360 Panoramic Camera (Optional)

The intelligent 360 panoramic function provides a comprehensive view around your car, supporting 4 AHD cameras for a 3D surround view. It can be triggered automatically with ignition, turn signals, reverse gear, emergency lights, or by opening the car door. This helps eliminate blind spots and enhances parking safety.

6.9. Split Screen Mode

The freestyle combination split screen mode allows you to use two applications simultaneously, such as navigation and music, or a web browser. This feature supports real-time Picture-in-Picture (PIP) display.

6.10. Network Connectivity

The system supports 4G LTE and WiFi for internet access. Connect to any network hotspot via WiFi or 4G, allowing you to use online navigation, stream music, watch videos, and download apps from the Google Play Store.

6.11. Automatic Dark Mode

The intelligent UI features an automatic dark mode switch. When you turn on your car headlights, the user interface will automatically switch to dark mode, reducing eye fatigue and improving focus while driving.

6.12. Button Light Color Function

The panel buttons feature built-in colorful lights. You can choose any color you like, with backlight control via the car's small light control (ILL Wire) or time control. Note that some models may have structural limitations and only support a single color.

7. Maintenance

  • Screen Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the screen. For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the unit free from dust and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean vents and ports.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check for software updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features. Updates can usually be found in the system settings or through the manufacturer's website.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, as this can affect its lifespan and performance.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Owtosin multimedia system, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power:
    • Check all power connections to ensure they are secure.
    • Verify the vehicle's fuse for the radio is intact.
    • Ensure the CANBUS decoder is correctly installed and functioning.
  • No Sound:
    • Check speaker connections.
    • Ensure the volume is not muted or set too low.
    • If your car has a BOSE or fiber optical amplifier, confirm the fiber optic box is correctly installed and connected.
    • Check DSP settings to ensure audio output is configured correctly.
  • Touch Screen Unresponsive:
    • Restart the unit.
    • Ensure the screen is clean and free from obstructions.
  • GPS Signal Issues:
    • Ensure the GPS antenna is properly installed and has a clear view of the sky.
    • Check GPS settings within the system.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity Problems:
    • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the head unit and your device.
    • Delete previous pairings and try reconnecting.
    • Ensure your device is within range.
  • CarPlay/Android Auto Not Connecting:
    • Ensure your phone's operating system is up to date.
    • Try both wired (USB) and wireless (Bluetooth/WiFi) connections.
    • Check USB cable for damage if using a wired connection.

If installation issues occur, it is suggested to consult with a professional installer. The manufacturer is not responsible for issues arising from improper installation or uninstallation.

  • Verify Compatibility: Before purchasing or installing, double-check that the specific model and year of your Porsche (911, Boxster, Cayman) are listed as compatible. For example, a Porsche 997.2 from 2008 should be compatible.
  • Professional Installation: While some users may attempt DIY installation, it is highly recommended to seek professional assistance, especially for complex wiring or CANBUS integration, to avoid damage and ensure proper functionality.
  • Backup Camera Integration: If you opt for the 360 panoramic camera, ensure it is calibrated correctly after installation for accurate trajectory and blind spot monitoring.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check for firmware updates from Owtosin to ensure your system has the latest features and performance enhancements.

10. Warranty and Support

10.1. Warranty Information

All Owtosin multimedia systems come with a 12-month Manufacturer Warranty. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. The warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper installation, accidents, misuse, abuse, improper wiring, or incorrect voltage operation.

The warranty will be voided under the following conditions:

  • Damage caused by undue wear & tear, dirt, misuse, improper installation or operation, neglect, or accident.
  • Any damages caused by improper packaging when returning the item.
  • If the item was disassembled or repaired by unauthorized personnel.
