5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the exterior of the power supply with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Ensure the cooling fan and ventilation openings on the back and sides are clear of obstructions to allow for proper airflow. This helps maintain optimal operating temperature and extends the life of the device.
- Fuse Replacement: If the power supply does not turn on, check the fuse located in the power socket on the back panel. Replace it with a fuse of the same type and rating if necessary.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the power supply in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive dust.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your BSIDE I8 Series power supply.
6.1 Protection Mechanisms

Figure 6: Six Major Testing Protections
The power supply is equipped with six major protection functions:
- Over-Voltage Protection (OVP): If the output voltage exceeds the set OVP limit, the output will be cut off. The display will show "OVP" and the output will be OFF.
- Over-Current Protection (OCP): If the output current exceeds the set OCP limit, the output will be cut off. The display will show "OCP" and the output will be OFF.
- Overload Protection: Protects against excessive power draw.
- Over-Temperature Protection: Shuts down the unit if internal temperature becomes too high.
- Short Circuit Protection: Prevents damage in case of a short circuit at the output.
- Polarity Reverse Protection: Protects against incorrect polarity connections.
If any protection is triggered, identify and resolve the underlying issue (e.g., reduce load, check for short circuits) before re-enabling the output.
6.2 Common Issues
- No Power: Check the power cord connection, the main power switch, and the fuse on the back panel. Ensure the 110V/220V switch is set correctly.
- No Output: Ensure the "OUTPUT" button is pressed and the output is enabled. Check if OVP or OCP has been triggered.
- Unstable Output: Verify that the load is within the power supply's specifications. Check for loose connections.
