It is manufactured with high-quality materials and complies with multiple industry standards. The device primarily targets analyzing the battery's healthy status to calculate the actual cold cranking capability and the aging extent, providing reliable analysis evidence for battery testing and maintenance. It notifies users to replace the battery in advance when it shows signs of aging.
Before use, please carefully read the instructions in this manual to understand the functions and correct usage methods to ensure the best performance.
The BM560/BM580 supports testing 6V/12V batteries with a CCA range of 100-2000 and a capacity range of 2Ah-220Ah. It is suitable for a wide range of vehicles and equipment, including cars, motorcycles, ATVs, trucks, boats, lawn mowers, and golf carts.
2. Setup and Connection
The BM560/BM580 is designed for simple and safe connection to your vehicle's battery.
2.1 Connecting the Tester
- Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and all accessories are turned off.
- Locate your vehicle's battery terminals.
- Connect the red alligator clip to the positive (+) battery terminal.
- Connect the black alligator clip to the negative (-) battery terminal.
The device features reverse connection protection, meaning even if the positive and negative polarity is connected incorrectly, the device will start normally, and neither the device nor the battery will be damaged. It also provides a 'Poor Contact Prompt' if the clips are not properly clamped.
The tester uses pure copper-plated alligator clips with a large opening range and strong bite force for precise measurements.
3. Operating Instructions
The BM560/BM580 offers multiple battery function tests to quickly detect the status of your car's battery. The device features a 2.4-inch TFT color screen (BM580) or 1.8-inch screen (BM560) for clear display and physical buttons for easy navigation.
3.1 Main Test Functions
The device supports the following tests:
- Battery Test: Measures battery life, voltage, Cold Cranking Amps (CCA), and internal resistance.
- Cranking Test (Start Test): Evaluates the battery's discharge performance during engine startup.
- Charging Test: Assesses the engine's charging system.
- Load Test: Checks overall engine performance under load.
- Ripple Test: Provides check the Alternator's charging and Starter's cranking conditions, including load voltage, unloaded voltage, ripple status and charging system status.
3.2 In-Vehicle and Out-of-Vehicle Testing
The BM560/BM580 can perform tests both when the battery is installed in the vehicle and when it is removed, offering flexibility for diagnosis and repair.
3.3 Ripple Test Details
The Ripple Test monitors the charging system of the engine. A smaller waveform fluctuation indicates a more stable voltage and a battery in good condition.
Note: If the test result is normal, the battery is charged normally. If the voltage reading is greater than 15.0V, please check the voltage regulator; if the voltage reading is less than 13.3V, please check the connection points, wires, and engine.
3.4 Voltage Waveform Live Display
Monitor the battery status in real-time, understand the current floating size of the battery voltage, and utilize automatic storage and playback functions for waveform data.
3.5 Screenshot Function
The device has a one-click screen capture function. Long press the "Up" and "Down" buttons simultaneously to take a screenshot. This allows you to capture and save important data quickly and conveniently. The device can store up to 10 pictures.
4. Maintenance and Updates
4.1 Routine Check
Regularly check the integrity of the product. If damaged, please discontinue use.
4.2 Software Updates
The BM560/BM580 features a Mini USB interface for software upgrades. No driver installation is needed, making the process simple and easy to operate. Updates are free for the lifetime of the product.
4.3 Storage
Please store this product in a cool, dry place, avoiding direct sunlight or extreme high-temperature environments.
5. Troubleshooting
The BM560/BM580 is designed with several protective features to ensure reliable operation.
- Overvoltage Input Protection: The device can be tested at will below 20V without damaging the internal circuit board, even if there's a short circuit.
- Reversible Access: Incorrect connection of positive and negative poles will not damage the device or battery; it will still start normally.
- Poor Contact Prompt: If the test clips do not properly clamp the battery's positive and negative electrodes, the display will show a prompt.
- Built-in Buzzer: During testing, if the battery is in poor condition, the device will provide an audible reminder.
5.1 When to Consider Battery Replacement
Modern vehicles have increasing demands on battery capacity and quality. Consider replacing your battery if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Cannot start the car
- Unsteady engine idling
- The power system is not working properly
