1. Product Overview

The Smiling Shark TD-8018 is a high-brightness, rechargeable headlamp designed for various outdoor activities such as camping and fishing. It features a powerful M77/P100 wick, Type-C charging, zoomable functionality, and a convenient sensor/motion function for hands-free operation.

2. Package Contents

Please check the package to ensure all items are present:

  • Smiling Shark TD-8018 Headlamp
  • Headband
  • USB Type-C Charging Cable
  • (Optional: 18650 Lithium Ion Batteries, depending on purchase variant)

3. Setup and Charging

3.1 Battery Installation (if applicable)

The TD-8018 headlamp uses two 18650 Lithium Ion batteries. Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity as indicated inside the battery compartment.

3.2 Charging the Headlamp

The headlamp is equipped with a USB Type-C charging port.

  1. Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the charging port on the headlamp.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a standard USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank, computer USB port).
  3. The power indicator lights will illuminate during charging.
  4. Once fully charged, all indicator lights will be solid.

3.3 Headband Adjustment

Adjust the elastic headband to fit comfortably and securely around your head. The headlamp unit can be tilted to direct the light as needed.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off and Mode Switching

The headlamp features 3 lighting modes: Strong, Medium, and Strobe.

  • To Power On: Press the power button once. The light will turn on in the last used mode (if memory function is present) or a default mode.
  • To Switch Modes: Click the power button repeatedly to cycle through Strong, Medium, and Strobe modes.
  • To Power Off: Press the power button when the desired mode is reached, or hold the button for a few seconds.

4.2 Lock Function

To prevent accidental activation, the headlamp includes a lock function.

  • To Activate/Deactivate: Double-click the power button.

4.3 Sensor/Motion Function

The headlamp can be operated with a motion sensor for hands-free control.

  • To Switch to Sensing Mode: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The blue indicator lights will show that the sensor mode is active.
  • Once in sensing mode, you can wave your hand in front of the headlamp to turn it on or off.
  • To Exit Sensing Mode: Press and hold the power button again for 3 seconds.

4.4 Zoom Function

The headlamp features a zoomable lens to adjust between a focused spotlight and a wide floodlight beam.

  • To Adjust Focus: Gently slide or rotate the head of the lamp to zoom in for a concentrated spotlight or zoom out for a broader floodlight.

5. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe the headlamp with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Water Resistance: The headlamp is waterproof. However, avoid prolonged submersion in water. Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed when not charging to maintain water resistance.
  • Battery Care: For optimal battery life, charge the batteries regularly and avoid completely draining them. If storing for an extended period, charge the batteries to about 50% and recharge every few months.
  • Storage: Store the headlamp in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Headlamp not turning on:
    • Check battery charge level using the power indicator. Recharge if necessary.
    • Ensure batteries are inserted correctly with the right polarity.
    • If the lock function is active, double-click the power button to deactivate it.
  • Light is dim or flickering:
    • Battery charge is low. Recharge the headlamp.
    • Ensure battery contacts are clean.
  • Sensor function not working:
    • Ensure the headlamp is in sensing mode (blue indicator lights). Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to activate it.
    • Check for obstructions in front of the sensor.
