6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your BolyGuard BG410-MS camera, consider the following maintenance tips:
- Battery Care: For long periods of inactivity, remove the 18650 batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
- TF Card Management: Regularly back up important data from your TF card and format it periodically to maintain performance and prevent errors.
- Environmental Protection: While the camera is IP66 waterproof and designed for tough weather, ensure all latches are securely closed to prevent moisture and dust ingress.
- Lens Cleaning: Gently clean the camera lens and PIR sensor window with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear images and accurate detection.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 Common Issues and Solutions
- There is something in front of the camera lens. Is the camera broken?
A: The camera is not broken. This is the IR-cut filter. When the camera is powered on, the IR-cut covers the lens. It will only be in a random position, sometimes covering the lens, when the camera is powered off.

Illustration of the IR-Cut filter mechanism.
- The display screen is suddenly black.
A: The camera may be in "Hunting mode." Press MENU to wake it up. If there is no response, the camera may be powered off. Check if the batteries are still good and properly inserted. Once verified, press and hold the OK/POWER button until the display turns on.
- Why can't my phone receive MMS?
A: MMS/GPRS functionality requires the SIM cards in both your camera and phone to have sufficient balance and data exchange enabled. Ensure your SIM card is active and has a data plan.

8.1 PIR Detection Zone
The camera features a new patented PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor. The PIR detection angle (α) is intentionally smaller than the field of view (FOV) angle (β). This design helps to reduce the rate of empty pictures and ensures that most, if not all, objects in motion are captured within the camera's view.

Diagram illustrating the PIR detection zone (α) and Field of View (β).
9. User Tips
- Battery Life: The camera is designed for over 6 months of standby time with two 18650 batteries. For extended operation, especially in active areas, consider connecting an optional solar panel.
- SIM Card Activation: Before deploying your camera for wireless communication, ensure your SIM card is activated and has a sufficient data plan to avoid issues with sending photos/videos.
- Optimal Placement: When setting up the camera, consider the PIR detection zone and FOV. Aim to place the camera where the subject will move across the detection zone rather than directly towards it for better capture rates.
10. Warranty & Support
The camera manufacturer provides a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects or malfunctions. If your camera fails under regular use within one year, it will be repaired or replaced free of charge. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper use.
After the warranty expires, extra service can be provided, but the customer will be responsible for additional charges for parts, labor, and associated costs.
