Figure 2.2: Inverter Connection Ports
  • Utility Input: Connects to the main utility grid.
  • Photovoltaic Input (PV1, PV2, PV3): Connects to your solar panel arrays. Ensure correct polarity and voltage.
  • Utility Output: Connects to your household or facility loads.
  • Inverter Switch (ON/OFF): Main power switch for the inverter.
  • CT Backflow Prevention Interface: For connecting a Current Transformer (CT) module, if required for grid-tie applications in your region.
  • Ground Wire Terminal: Essential for safety grounding.

2.3 Pre-Installation Notes

  • The inverter is designed for direct power conversion and cannot be connected to batteries.
  • For PV-only operation (without mains power), the PV voltage must be greater than 150Vdc for the inverter to start.
  • When connecting to a water pump, ensure the inverter's power capacity is 5-7 times greater than the water pump's power. This inverter is suitable only for domestic small water pumps.
  • If connecting to the grid, ensure your local regulations do not require specific grid connection certifications that this inverter may not possess. A CT module may be required; please consult your supplier.

3. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your inverter.

3.1 Startup and Shutdown Sequence

  • Startup: Always turn on the inverter first, then activate the connected loads.
  • Shutdown: Always shut down the connected loads first, then turn off the inverter.

3.2 Output Source Priority Configuration

The inverter allows you to configure the priority of power sources for your loads. This setting can typically be adjusted via the LCD interface.

Diagram illustrating Utility First and Solar First output priority modes. Utility First uses grid power primarily, solar as backup. Solar First uses solar power primarily, grid as backup.
Figure 3.1: Output Source Priority Options
  • Utility First (Default): The inverter will prioritize power from the utility grid to supply the loads. Solar power will only be used to power the loads when utility power is unavailable.
  • Solar First: Solar energy is the primary power source for the loads. If solar energy is insufficient to power all connected loads, the utility grid will supply power simultaneously. If both solar energy and utility power are unavailable, or if solar energy is insufficient and utility power is not available, the loads will not receive power.

3.3 LCD Settings

The inverter features an LCD display for monitoring system status and configuring various parameters, including the input voltage range for home appliances and personal computers.

Refer to the on-screen menu for navigation and adjustment of settings.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your inverter.

  • Cleaning: Keep the inverter's exterior clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are clear and unobstructed to prevent overheating.
  • Connections: Periodically check all electrical connections (PV input, AC input, AC output, ground) for tightness and signs of corrosion.
  • Environmental Conditions: The inverter has an IP21 ingress protection rating, meaning it is protected against solid objects over 12.5mm and vertically falling drops of water. Avoid exposing the inverter to direct water spray or harsh weather conditions.

5. Troubleshooting

This section provides guidance for common issues. For complex problems, contact qualified service personnel.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Inverter does not start with PV power only.PV voltage is below the minimum required (150Vdc).Ensure PV voltage is above 150Vdc. Check solar panel connections and sunlight conditions.
Inverter shuts down unexpectedly.Overload, over-temperature, or short circuit detected.Reduce connected load, check for obstructions to ventilation, inspect wiring for short circuits. Allow inverter to cool down before restarting.
Loads not receiving power.Incorrect startup/shutdown sequence, insufficient solar/utility power, or inverter fault.Follow correct startup sequence (inverter ON, then loads ON). Check power source availability (solar, utility). Verify output source priority setting.
Attempting to connect batteries.Misunderstanding of inverter capabilities. This inverter model does not support battery connections. Do not attempt to connect batteries.

8. User Tips

  • Verify Specifications: Before purchasing or installing, always confirm the exact model specifications (e.g., 6KW vs. 10KW) and physical dimensions to ensure it meets your requirements.
  • No Battery Support: Remember that this inverter series is designed for direct power conversion and does not support battery storage. Do not attempt to integrate batteries into the system.
  • Grid-Tie and Off-Grid Functionality: The AN-PVI series supports both grid-tie and off-grid operations. Ensure your setup and configuration match your intended use and local regulations.
  • Water Pump Sizing: If using with a water pump, ensure the inverter's power rating is significantly higher (5-7 times) than the pump's power for optimal performance and to prevent overload. This inverter is primarily for domestic small water pumps.
