4. Setup

4.1 Mounting the Device

The device comes with an adjustable suction cup mount for easy installation on your dashboard or windshield. The mount allows for 360-degree screen adjustment to ensure optimal viewing without obstructing your driving view.

  • Attach the suction cup mount to a clean, smooth surface.
  • Secure the main unit to the adjustable base.
  • Adjust the screen angle and orientation as needed.

4.2 Power Connection

Connect the provided power cable to the DC 12V port on the device and plug it into your vehicle's 12V-24V power outlet (cigarette lighter socket). The device features a dedicated USB port on the power plug for quick phone charging.

4.3 Rear Camera Installation (Optional)

If you have purchased the optional rear camera, connect it to the AV IN (reversing camera input) port on the device. This unit only supports CVBS rearview cameras.

4.4 Audio Output to Car Speakers

The unit has a built-in speaker. For louder sound through your car's audio system, use one of the following methods:

  • FM Radio Transmitter:
    1. On the portable MP5 player, choose an FM frequency to transmit (e.g., FM93.6MHz). Avoid frequencies already occupied by local radio stations to prevent signal interference.
    2. On your original car radio, search for and tune to the same FM frequency (e.g., FM93.6MHz).
    3. The audio from the portable MP5 player will now be transmitted through your car's speakers.
  • AUX Cable: Plug a 3.5mm AUX cable into the AUX OUT port on the device and into your car's original AUX input port (if available).

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 General Interface Overview

The main interface provides access to various functions such as PhoneLink, Radio, BT (Bluetooth), BT Music, BT Call, USB, TF, and System Setup.

5.2 Bluetooth Connection (BT Call & BT Music)

To connect your phone via Bluetooth 5.1 for hands-free calls and music streaming:

  1. On the device, tap on Settings, then tap on Bluetooth.
  2. Note the device's Bluetooth name (e.g., CAR-XTD-BT_16E3) and pairing code (e.g., 0000).
  3. On your smartphone, search for the device's Bluetooth name and connect.
  4. Your phone will display a 'Bluetooth Pairing Request'. Tap 'Pair' to establish a successful connection.

5.3 CarPlay (Wired & Wireless)

To use Apple CarPlay:

  1. On the device, tap on Settings, then Smart Phone, then Apple Device, and set to CarPlay.
  2. Wireless CarPlay Connection:
    • Connect your iPhone's Bluetooth to the device's Bluetooth (Device Name: CAR-XTD-BT_16E3, Pin Code: 0000).
    • Your iPhone will prompt a 'Use CarPlay' confirmation. Select 'Pair' to establish the wireless CarPlay connection.
  3. Wired CarPlay Connection:
    • Connect your Apple charging cable from your iPhone to the USB port of the device.

5.4 Android Auto (Wired & Wireless)

To use Android Auto:

  1. On the device, tap on Settings, then Smart Phone, then Android Device, and set to Android Auto.
  2. Wireless Android Auto Connection:
    • Connect your Android phone's Bluetooth to the device's Bluetooth (Device Name: CAR-XTD-BT_16E3, Pin Code: 0000).
    • The device will display an Android Auto icon with your phone's name. Tap it to achieve wireless Android Auto connection.
  3. Wired Android Auto Connection:
    • Connect your Android charging cable from your phone to the USB port of the device.
  4. Note: Ensure the Android Auto application is installed and up-to-date on your phone (download from Google Play Store if needed).

5.5 Mirror Link (AirPlay for iOS & Phone Link for Android)

Mirror Link allows you to cast your smartphone screen to the device.

  • For iOS (AirPlay):
    1. On the device, tap on Settings, then Smart Phone, then Apple Device, and set to iOS Mirror.
    2. Wireless Connection: Connect your iPhone to the unit's Wi-Fi, then enable screen mirroring on your iPhone and select the device name.
    3. Wired Connection: Connect your iPhone to the device via a USB cable and allow any authorization requests on your phone.
  • For Android (Phone Link):
    1. On the device, tap on Settings, then Smart Phone, then Android Device, and set to Auto Link.
    2. Connect your Android phone to the unit via a USB data cable. This will initiate Android phone mirroring.
    3. Note: Ensure the AutoLink app is installed on your Android phone (download from Google Play Store).

5.6 Media Playback (USB & TF Card)

You can play music, pictures, and videos directly from a USB flash drive or a TF (Micro SD) memory card.

  1. Insert your USB flash drive into the USB port or your TF card into the Micro TF Slot on the device.
  2. On the main interface, tap the USB or TF icon to browse and play your media files.

5.7 FM Radio

The device includes an FM radio tuner. You can select from preset frequencies or manually tune to your desired station within the 87.5~108MHz range.

  1. Tap the Radio icon on the main interface.
  2. Use the on-screen controls to select frequencies or switch between presets.

5.8 System Settings

Access various system configurations by tapping the Setup button on the homepage. Settings include Basic Setup, Factory Set, Equipment, Sound Setup, Display Settings, Wallpaper, Screen Saver, Language, Time Setup, and Version information.

  • Factory Set: To access factory settings, the password is 888888.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the screen and exterior of the device. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Temperature: Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures (hot or cold) for extended periods.
  • Storage: If storing the device for a long time, disconnect it from power and store it in a cool, dry place.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the power cable is securely connected to the device and the car's power outlet. Check if the car's power outlet is functioning.
  • No Sound from Car Speakers: Verify that the FM transmitter frequency on the device matches your car radio, and there's no local broadcast interference. If using AUX, ensure the cable is properly connected to both the device and your car's AUX input.
  • CarPlay/Android Auto Not Connecting:
    • For wireless connections, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both devices and they are paired. Check for any 'Use CarPlay' or 'Android Auto' prompts on your phone.
    • For wired connections, ensure the USB cable is functional and properly connected. Try a different USB cable if issues persist.
    • Ensure the CarPlay/Android Auto apps on your phone are updated to the latest version.
  • Screen Mirroring Issues: For iOS AirPlay, ensure your iPhone is connected to the unit's Wi-Fi. For Android Phone Link, ensure the AutoLink app is installed and updated.
  • Device PIN: The default Bluetooth pairing code is 0000. The factory settings password is 888888.

8. User Tips

  • Equalizer Settings: If you are looking for sound customization options like an equalizer, navigate to the Sound Setup menu within the System Settings.
  • Camera Type: This device specifically supports CVBS rearview cameras. Ensure any aftermarket camera you intend to use is compatible with this standard.
