3. Package Contents

Upon opening the DX-CP28 Beacon package, you should find the following items:

  • 1 x DX-CP28 Beacon Unit (outer case and PCBA)
  • 2 x CR2477 Button Cell Batteries (may be pre-installed or separate)
  • 1 x 3M Adhesive Pad
  • 1 x User Manual

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the top cover of the DX-CP28 Beacon.
  2. Gently rotate the top cover counter-clockwise to open the beacon.
  3. Insert the two CR2477 button cell batteries into their respective slots on the PCBA, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Align the top cover and rotate it clockwise until it clicks securely into place.

4.2 Mounting the Beacon

The DX-CP28 Beacon can be easily mounted using the provided 3M adhesive pad. Ensure the mounting surface is clean, dry, and smooth for optimal adhesion.

  1. Peel off one side of the protective film from the 3M adhesive pad.
  2. Attach the adhesive pad firmly to the back of the DX-CP28 Beacon.
  3. Peel off the remaining protective film from the adhesive pad.
  4. Press the beacon firmly onto your desired mounting surface for at least 30 seconds.

4.3 App Download and Initial Configuration

To configure the DX-CP28 Beacon, you will need the DX-SMART mobile application:

  • For Android users: Search for "DX-IBEACON" in the Google Play Store.
  • For iOS users: Search for "DX-SMART" in the Apple App Store.

The app allows you to modify and query broadcast parameters such as UUID, Major, Minor for iBeacon, and UID, URL, TLM, Device Info for Eddystone. You can also set button functions, restart the device, or restore it to factory settings through the app.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the DX-CP28 Beacon is set up and configured via the mobile application, it will begin broadcasting signals according to your specified parameters. These signals can be detected by compatible devices (e.g., smartphones, other BLE receivers) for various applications.

5.1 Broadcast Parameters

  • Advertising Format: Supports GATT, iBeacon, and Eddystone.
  • Advertising Interval: Configurable from 100 ms to 1000 ms. A shorter interval provides more frequent updates but consumes more battery.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Battery Replacement

The DX-CP28 Beacon's batteries are replaceable, ensuring a long service life. When the battery is exhausted, follow the steps in Section 4.1 to replace the two CR2477 button cell batteries.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Issue: Unable to find or connect to the beacon via the app.

    Solution: Ensure the beacon has fresh batteries and is powered on. Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device. Make sure you have downloaded the correct app ("DX-IBEACON" for Android, "DX-SMART" for iOS) and that your device meets the minimum OS requirements (iOS 7.0+, Android 4.3+). If the issue persists, try restarting your mobile device or the beacon.

  • Issue: App download links are not working or website is inaccessible.

    Solution: If you encounter issues with downloading the app or accessing support materials, please contact the DX-SMART after-sales team directly at Manager@szdx-smart.com. They will provide assistance and alternative download methods.

  • Issue: Beacon is not broadcasting or has a reduced range.

    Solution: Check the battery level. Low battery can affect broadcast strength and range. Ensure there are no significant physical obstructions (e.g., thick walls, metal objects) between the beacon and the receiving device. Environmental factors can also impact Bluetooth signal strength.

  • Issue: Is the beacon waterproof?

    Solution: The DX-CP28 Beacon is not explicitly rated as waterproof and its IP rating is listed as "Not Supported" in the product comparison. It is advised to avoid exposing the device to water or high humidity to prevent damage.
