2.2 100-Key Layout and Anti-Ghosting

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning the Keyboard

To maintain optimal performance and appearance:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe down the keycaps and keyboard surface regularly.
  • For deeper cleaning, use a can of compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keys.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the keycaps or finish.

3.2 Hot-Swappable Switch Replacement

The K96 keyboard features a full-key hot-swappable design, allowing you to easily replace individual switches without soldering. This enables customization and extends the lifespan of your keyboard.

  1. Using the provided shaft puller tool, carefully grip the switch you wish to remove.
  2. Gently pull upwards until the switch detaches from the PCB.
  3. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB.
  4. Press down firmly until the new switch clicks into place.

When the keyboard's power indicator shows low battery or connectivity issues arise due to power, replace the two No. 7 (AAA) batteries as described in Section 1.1.

4. Troubleshooting

4.1 Connectivity Issues

  • 2.4G Wireless: Ensure the USB receiver is securely plugged into your device. Check that the keyboard is in 2.4G mode (FN + Q). Try plugging the receiver into a different USB port.
  • Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Check that the keyboard is in the correct Bluetooth pairing mode (FN + W or FN + E). Forget the device on your host system and re-pair.
  • General: Ensure the keyboard batteries are not depleted. Replace them if necessary.

4.2 Keys Not Responding

  • Check if the keyboard is properly connected via 2.4G or Bluetooth.
  • If only specific keys are not responding, consider replacing the individual hot-swappable switch for that key (refer to Section 3.2).
  • Ensure the keyboard is not in sleep mode. Press any key to wake it up.
