PQWT CL200

PQWT CL200 Underground Water Pipe Leak Detector Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

The PQWT-CL series pipe leak detector is a professional water leakage detecting device designed for water supply companies, heating companies, municipal construction companies, and property companies. The PQWT-CL series is primarily used to find and determine the location of leakage points in water supply pipelines. It can also be used to detect leakage in other pressure piping systems. When fluid in a pipeline erupts through a leakage source due to pressure, the noise produced by the impact on the internal wall will spread along the pipeline or through the buried layer medium to the ground. This device determines the leakage source by amplifying the leakage noise and analyzing the spectrum signal.

The PQWT-CL200 model is specifically designed for detecting leaks up to 2 meters deep.

6.1. Mode Selection

From the main menu, tap on the desired mode to begin detection:

  • Spectrum Analysis: Provides a real-time display of noise signals within the 1-5000 Hz range. This dual-mode functionality combines acoustic vibration with spectrum technology for precise leak detection.
  • Filtering Analysis: Offers a real-time display of noise signals in the Gore band. This mode helps filter ambient noise for a clearer visual comparison of potential leak sounds.
  • Live Recording: Allows you to record and store audio data for later analysis.
  • File Explorer: Access and manage previously recorded data.
  • Settings: Configure various device parameters.
  • Services: Access support or additional features.

6.2. Leakage Positioning

For precise positioning, the device utilizes spectral analysis and filtering analysis modes. In addition to listening through headphones, you can observe the visual representation of the signal strength.

  • Fine Measurement Mode: Filters ambient noise and provides a columnar bar display for visual comparison of leaks and background noise.
  • Point Measurement Mode: Offers multi-monitoring for detailed analysis and judgment of suspicious water leakage points. This mode displays the instantaneous value (ambient noise), minimum (leakage noise), and suspected water leak levels.

Move the sensor along the suspected pipeline path. Observe both the audio feedback through the headphones and the visual indicators on the screen. A significant increase in noise level or a distinct pattern in the spectrum analysis indicates a potential leak location.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Keep the main unit, sensor, and accessories clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Storage: Store the device in a dry place within the recommended preservation temperature range of -10°C to +50°C.
  • Battery Care: Charge the device regularly, even when not in use, to maintain battery health. Avoid fully discharging the batteries for extended periods.
  • Data Management: The device supports long-term recording and storage. Regularly transfer important data to an external storage device via the USB port or SD card. You can delete and repeat recordings as needed.
  • Avoid Impact: Handle the device with care to prevent physical damage.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Sound/Weak Signal: Ensure all cables (sensor, headphones) are securely connected. Check battery level. Adjust audio amplification gain in settings. Ensure the sensor is in good contact with the surface above the pipeline.
  • Difficulty Pinpointing Leak: Utilize both Spectrum Analysis and Filtering Analysis modes. Use the Fine Measurement and Point Measurement modes for more detailed analysis. Environmental noise can interfere; try to minimize external sounds or use the active noise reduction feature.
  • Device Not Powering On: Ensure the battery is charged. Check the main switch and ON/OFF button. If unresponsive, try pressing the System Reset Button.
  • Inaccurate Depth Reading: The PQWT-CL200 is designed for a detection depth of up to 2 meters. For deeper pipelines, a different model might be required.
  • What pipe materials can it detect leaks in? The device detects acoustic vibrations caused by leaks, making it effective for various pipe materials including iron, copper, aluminum, and plastic.
