5. Troubleshooting

5.1. Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues

  • 5GHz Wi-Fi Not Supported: Ensure your phone and the camera are connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The camera does not support 5GHz bands.
  • Weak Signal: Place the camera close to your Wi-Fi router. Thick or insulated objects between the camera and router can weaken the signal. Ensure a good Wi-Fi signal level before use.

5.2. PIR Detection Sensitivity

  • False Alerts/Battery Drain: In environments with frequent movement (e.g., busy streets), the device may wake up often, leading to false alerts and reduced battery life. Adjust the PIR detection sensitivity in the device settings to "Disabled" or "Low" to mitigate this.
  • Sensitivity Levels:
    • Disabled: No PIR detection (most power saving).
    • Low: Delay 7 seconds before PIR detects movement.
    • Medium: Delay 5 seconds before PIR detects movement.
    • High: Immediately triggers PIR detection (most power consumption).

5.3. App Notifications & Permissions

  • Missing Notifications (Android): For Android users, especially in regions where Google system push messages are not received, you may need to enable the app's self-starting function in your phone settings to receive push notifications.
  • General App Issues: Ensure all app permissions (location, notifications, background running, etc.) are turned on in your mobile phone settings.

5.4. Battery Life Concerns

  • Short Battery Life: The battery life is directly affected by the device's wake-up frequency. Reduce PIR sensitivity to decrease wake-ups and extend battery life.
  • Low Battery: Charge the battery immediately when it is low.

5.5. Resetting the Camera

If you need to re-register the camera with a different account or resolve persistent issues, a reset may be necessary. During the Wi-Fi connection process, if the blue LED is not blinking, press the power/call key to wake up the device, then hold the RESET button until the blue indicator lights up and release. This will reboot the device and put it back into pairing mode, allowing for re-configuration.

7. User Tips

  • Optimize PIR Sensitivity: To conserve battery life and reduce false alarms in high-traffic areas, adjust the PIR detection sensitivity in the app settings to 'Disabled' or 'Low'.
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi is Key: Always ensure your mobile device and the camera are connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, as 5GHz is not supported. Maintain proximity to your router for a stable connection.
  • SD Card Recording without Constant Wi-Fi: The camera can record video to the SD card even without a continuous Wi-Fi connection. However, live viewing, remote access, and push notifications require an active Wi-Fi connection.
  • Android Notifications: If you experience issues with push notifications on Android, check your phone's settings to ensure the i-Cam+ app has permission to auto-start and run in the background.
  • Initial Charge: Fully charge the camera at first use for optimal battery performance.
