3.1 Wiring Diagram (No Neutral Wire)

This smart switch is designed for installations where no neutral wire is available in the switch box. A capacitor is required and must be connected in parallel on both sides of the lamp for proper operation.

  • 1-Gang Wiring: Connect the Live wire to 'L' terminal on the switch. Connect the lamp's Live input to 'L1' terminal. The capacitor connects across the lamp's Live and Neutral terminals.
  • 2-Gang Wiring: Connect the Live wire to 'L' terminal. Connect lamp 1's Live input to 'L1' and lamp 2's Live input to 'L2'. The capacitor connects across the first lamp's Live and Neutral terminals.
  • 3-Gang Wiring: Connect the Live wire to 'L' terminal. Connect lamp 1's Live input to 'L1', lamp 2's Live input to 'L2', and lamp 3's Live input to 'L3'. The capacitor connects across the first lamp's Live and Neutral terminals.

5. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your smart switch:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the switch surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Safety: The switch is constructed with fire-resistant materials (V0 PC, Toughened Glass Panel) and includes overload protection. However, avoid exposing it to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app for available firmware updates to ensure your device has the latest features and security enhancements.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Switch not responding:
    • Check if the main power supply is on.
    • Ensure the switch is correctly wired according to the diagrams in Section 3.1.
    • Verify the capacitor is correctly installed across the lamp.
    • If using app control, check your phone's internet connection and the switch's WiFi connection status in the app.
  • Cannot connect to WiFi:
    • Ensure your WiFi network is 2.4GHz. The switch does not support 5GHz networks.
    • Check if your WiFi password is correct.
    • Move the switch closer to your WiFi router during setup.
    • Reset the switch to pairing mode and try connecting again.
  • Voice control not working:
    • Ensure the smart assistant (Alexa, Google Home) is properly linked to your Tuya Smart/Smart Life account.
    • Check if the device name in the smart assistant app matches the name you are using in your voice commands.
    • Verify your smart assistant device has an active internet connection.
  • Lights flicker or don't turn off completely:
    • This often indicates an issue with the capacitor installation or a low-power LED bulb. Ensure the capacitor is correctly installed in parallel with the lamp.
    • Try using a different type of LED bulb or a bulb with higher wattage if flickering persists.

8. User Tips

  • Capacitor Placement: Always install the capacitor at the lamp fixture, not at the switch box, for optimal performance and to prevent flickering, especially with low-wattage LED bulbs.
  • WiFi Range: For stable connectivity, ensure the switch is within a reasonable range of your 2.4GHz WiFi router. Consider a WiFi extender if coverage is weak.
  • Naming Devices: Use simple, distinct names for your switches in the app (e.g., "Kitchen Light," "Bedroom Fan") to make voice commands easier and more reliable.
  • Safety First: If you are unsure about any wiring steps, consult a qualified electrician. Incorrect wiring can cause damage to the device or electrical system, and poses a safety risk.
