5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Component Overview

5.2 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the timer.

- Insert two (2) new 1.5V AA alkaline batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity.

5.3 Connecting the Timer

- Hand-tighten the timer onto your 3/4" faucet. If your faucet is 1/2", use the provided 3/4" Male NPT to 1/2" Female NPT reducer adapter.
- Connect your garden hose to the bottom outlet of the timer. Use the provided quick connector and thread seal tape if needed to prevent leaks.
- Turn on your faucet fully. The timer is designed to withstand high water pressure (up to 116 psi).
6. Operating Instructions
The INSOMA water timer offers automatic, manual, and rain delay modes for flexible watering.
6.1 General Operation and Dial Settings
The timer features a central dial and four buttons (+, -, Faucet icon, OK) for programming. Rotate the dial to select the desired setting mode:
- Set Clock: Adjust the current time.
- Start Time: Set when automatic watering should begin.
- How Long: Define the duration of each watering cycle (1 minute to 23 hours 59 minutes).
- How Often: Set the frequency of watering (every 1 minute to 23 hours 59 minutes, or every 1 day to 7 days).
- AUTO: Activates the programmed automatic watering schedule.
- OFF: Turns off all watering.

6.2 Automatic Watering Mode
To set up an automatic watering schedule:
- Rotate the dial to 'Set Clock' and set the current time using the '+' and '-' buttons, then press 'OK'.
- Rotate the dial to 'Start Time' and set your desired watering start time, then press 'OK'.
- Rotate the dial to 'How Long' and set the duration for each watering session (e.g., 30 minutes), then press 'OK'.
- Rotate the dial to 'How Often' and set the frequency (e.g., every 10 hours or every 2 days), then press 'OK'.
- Finally, rotate the dial to 'AUTO' to activate your programmed schedule. The timer will now run according to your settings.

6.3 Manual Watering Mode
To manually water without interrupting your preset schedule:
- Ensure the dial is set to 'AUTO'.
- Press the 'Faucet icon' button.
- Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the desired manual watering duration (from 1 minute to 23 hours 59 minutes).
- Press 'OK' to start manual watering. The timer will revert to its automatic schedule once the manual watering duration is complete.

6.4 Rain Delay Mode
To pause your watering schedule due to rain:
- Ensure the dial is set to 'AUTO'.
- Long press the '+' button.
- Use the '+' and '-' buttons to select the desired rain delay duration (1 to 7 days).
- Press 'OK' to confirm. The timer will pause for the selected duration and automatically resume its schedule afterward.

6.5 Child Lock Function
To prevent accidental changes to your settings:
- Ensure the dial is set to 'AUTO'.
- Long press the '-' button. A lock icon will appear on the LCD screen, indicating the child lock is active.
- To deactivate, long press the '-' button again until the lock icon disappears.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the filter to prevent blockages and extend the timer's lifespan. Replace the filter if it shows signs of wear or damage.
- Winter Storage: Before the first frost, remove the batteries from the timer. Disconnect the timer from the faucet and hose, drain any remaining water, and store it in a dry, indoor location to prevent freezing damage.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the LCD screen to ensure continuous operation.
8. Troubleshooting
- Q1: The LCD screen doesn't display anything when the batteries are installed.
- A1: Ensure you are using new 1.5V AA alkaline batteries. Check that the batteries are properly placed in the battery box with correct polarity.
- Q2: Water doesn't come on at the preset time.
- A2: Check the following:
- The current clock time is set correctly.
- The 'Start Time' is set to the desired time.
- Rain delay mode is not active.
- The timer is not in 'OFF' mode.
- The batteries are not low (check the battery indicator on the LCD).
- The faucet is turned on fully.
- Q3: The hose tap connection/outlet leaks.
- A3: Check the following:
- The O-ring is correctly seated and not damaged in the connection to the faucet.
- The connection outlet or water pipe is not broken.
