1. Important Safety Information

Always observe basic safety precautions when using electric tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Read all instructions carefully before operating this circular saw.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings:

  • Work Area Safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
  • Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection (safety glasses or goggles), hearing protection, and appropriate work gloves. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts.
  • Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. It will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
  • Kickback and Related Warnings: Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched, bound or misaligned saw blade, causing an uncontrolled saw to lift up and out of the workpiece toward the operator. Proper technique and common sense can avoid kickback.

6.1 Preparing for a Cut:

  1. Ensure the saw is unplugged when making adjustments.
  2. Select the appropriate blade for the material you are cutting.
  3. Adjust the cutting depth and angle as required (refer to Section 5).
  4. Secure your workpiece firmly to a stable surface using clamps. Never hold the workpiece by hand.
  5. Mark your cutting line clearly.
  6. Connect the vacuum tube to the dust outlet and a vacuum cleaner if dust extraction is desired.

6.2 Making a Cut:

  1. Plug the saw into a suitable power outlet.
  2. Hold the saw firmly with both hands.
  3. Position the front edge of the saw's base plate on the workpiece, ensuring the blade is clear of the material.
  4. Engage the safety switch and then press the trigger to start the saw. Allow the blade to reach full speed before beginning the cut.
  5. Slowly and steadily guide the saw along your marked cutting line. Do not force the saw; let the blade do the work.
  6. Maintain a firm grip and keep your body balanced.
  7. Once the cut is complete, release the trigger and allow the blade to stop completely before lifting the saw from the workpiece.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your circular saw. Always unplug the tool before any maintenance.

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the saw thoroughly. Remove sawdust and debris from the motor vents, blade guard, and base plate. Use a soft brush or compressed air.
  • Blade Inspection: Regularly inspect the saw blade for sharpness, damage, or missing teeth. A dull or damaged blade can cause kickback and poor cutting performance. Replace blades as needed.
  • Cord Inspection: Check the power cord for any cuts, fraying, or damage. Do not use the saw if the cord is damaged.
  • Lubrication: The saw's internal components are factory-lubricated and generally do not require additional lubrication. Refer to a qualified service technician for internal maintenance.
  • Storage: Store the saw in a dry, secure place out of reach of children.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HYCHIKA Circular Saw, try the following steps:

  • Saw does not start:
    • Check if the saw is properly plugged into a working power outlet.
    • Ensure the safety switch is engaged before pressing the trigger.
    • Inspect the power cord for damage.
  • Blade gets stuck or cuts slowly:
    • The blade might be dull or damaged. Replace it if necessary.
    • You might be forcing the saw. Allow the blade to cut at its own pace.
    • Ensure the cutting depth and angle are correctly set for the material. For hard materials, adjust the position before cutting to prevent the blade from getting stuck due to overheating.
    • The workpiece might not be properly secured, causing binding.
  • Excessive vibration or noise:
    • Check if the blade is securely installed and not warped.
    • Ensure all fasteners on the saw are tight.
    • If the issue persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.
  • Motor issues (e.g., 'motor bruscle' as reported by some users):
    • This could indicate an internal motor problem. Ensure the saw is not overloaded or overheating.
    • Check for any obstructions in the motor's ventilation slots.
    • If the motor is making unusual noises or performing poorly, it is recommended to seek professional service.

9. User Tips

  • Blade Compatibility: Always ensure you use a 185mm diameter blade with the correct arbor size for this saw. Check the blade specifications carefully when purchasing replacements.
  • Preventing Blade Sticking: When cutting hard materials, it is crucial to adjust the saw's position and depth settings appropriately before starting the cut. This helps prevent the saw blade from getting stuck in the material and potentially damaging the machine due to overheating.
  • Dust Management: Utilize the dust outlet by connecting it to a vacuum cleaner. This significantly reduces airborne sawdust, maintaining a cleaner and safer work environment.
  • Practice Cuts: If you are new to using a circular saw or cutting a new material, make practice cuts on scrap pieces first to get a feel for the tool and settings.
