3. Setup Guide

3.1. Keyboard Assembly (for Kit versions)

If you purchased a kit version, you will need to install switches and keycaps. The Monka 6075Pro features hot-swappable switches, allowing for easy installation and replacement without soldering.

  1. Install Switches: Align the pins of each mechanical switch with the holes on the PCB. Gently press the switch until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
  2. Install Keycaps: Use the provided keycap puller or your fingers to firmly press each keycap onto its corresponding switch stem.

3.2. Initial Charging

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the keyboard. Connect the USB Type-C cable to the keyboard's port and the other end to a powered USB port (e.g., computer, wall adapter). The keyboard has a 4000mAh battery.

3.3. Connectivity Modes

The Monka 6075Pro supports three connection modes:

  • Wired Mode (USB Type-C): Connect the keyboard directly to your computer using the provided USB Type-C cable. This mode offers the lowest latency (1ms response speed).
  • 2.4G Wireless Mode: Insert the 2.4G wireless receiver into an available USB port on your computer. Switch the keyboard to 2.4G mode (usually via a switch on the keyboard or a key combination). This mode offers low latency (1.34ms usage delay).
  • Bluetooth 5.1 Mode: Switch the keyboard to Bluetooth mode. On your device (computer, laptop), search for Bluetooth devices and select "Monka 6075Pro" to pair. This mode has a usage delay of 14.03ms.

The keyboard is compatible with Windows 7/8/10 and macOS 10.14.6 or above for wired and USB receiver modes. For Bluetooth mode, Windows 10 1809 Build 17763 or macOS 10.14.6 or above is required.

4.2. Backlight Control

The keyboard features RGB under-key lighting. Specific key combinations (often involving the 'Fn' key) are used to cycle through different lighting modes, adjust brightness, and change colors. Refer to the quick start guide or manufacturer's software for detailed instructions on backlight customization.

4.3. Multimedia Function Keys

The keyboard includes multimedia function keys. These are typically accessed by holding down the 'Fn' key and pressing the corresponding function row keys (F1-F12) or other designated keys. Common functions include volume control, media playback, and application shortcuts.

4.4. Knob Functionality

The metal knob on the keyboard typically controls volume by default (rotate) and mute/unmute (press). Its functionality may be customizable via software.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

  • Keycaps: Use a keycap puller to remove keycaps. Clean them with mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly before reattaching.
  • Keyboard Body: Wipe the aluminum body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Under Keycaps: Use compressed air to remove dust and debris from between switches.

5.2. Switch and Keycap Replacement

Thanks to the hot-swappable design, switches can be easily replaced. Use the provided switch puller to carefully remove a switch. Insert a new compatible 3-pin or 5-pin mechanical switch, ensuring pins are aligned before pressing firmly.

5.3. Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the keyboard frequently. Charge the keyboard when the battery indicator is low. If storing for an extended period, charge it to about 50%.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. Connectivity Issues

  • Wired: Ensure the USB Type-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer. Try a different USB port or cable.
  • 2.4G Wireless: Ensure the 2.4G receiver is properly inserted and the keyboard is switched to 2.4G mode. Try re-pairing by switching the keyboard off and on, then re-inserting the receiver.
  • Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and the keyboard is in pairing mode. Remove the keyboard from your device's Bluetooth list and re-pair. Ensure your device meets the minimum OS requirements for Bluetooth 5.1.

6.2. Backlight Not Working

  • Check if the backlight is turned off or set to minimum brightness using the keyboard's function keys.
  • Ensure the keyboard has sufficient battery charge if operating wirelessly.

6.3. Keys Not Responding

  • For hot-swappable switches, gently remove and re-insert the affected switch to ensure proper contact.
  • Check for any debris under the keycap or switch that might be obstructing movement.
  • If using wireless modes, ensure the battery is charged and the connection is stable.

6.4. Input Lag

The Monka 6075Pro is designed for low latency. If you experience significant lag:

  • For critical applications, use wired mode for the lowest response time (1ms).
  • Ensure your 2.4G receiver is not obstructed and is close to the keyboard.
  • For Bluetooth, ensure there are no other devices causing interference and your system meets the recommended specifications.
