Setup and Installation
Before proceeding with installation, ensure you have read and understood the safety information. Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician if you are unsure.
1. Pre-Installation Check
- Verify your motor is AC-powered (100-250VAC, 50/60Hz) and has 4 wires (Blue, Brown, Black, Green/Yellow).
- Ensure your wall switch box has a depth of at least 60mm to accommodate the module.
- Crucially, turn off the main AC power supply at your circuit breaker before starting any wiring.
2. Wiring Method
The module has terminals for Input N (Neutral), Input L (Live), Output N (Neutral to Motor), Output L (Live to Motor), Output L1 (Brown Wire to Motor), Output L2 (Black Wire to Motor), S1 (Switch 1), and S2 (Switch 2). The module itself does not require an Earth Wire connection, but your motor might.
2.1. Installation with Standard Blinds (External Switch)
- Connect the main AC power supply's Neutral wire to the module's "Input N" terminal.
- Connect the main AC power supply's Live wire to the module's "Input L" terminal.
- Connect the motor's Neutral wire to the module's "Output N" terminal.
- Connect the motor's Live wire to the module's "Output L" terminal.
- Connect the motor's Brown wire to the module's "Output L1" terminal.
- Connect the motor's Black wire to the module's "Output L2" terminal.
- Connect one wire from your manual wall switch to the module's "S1" terminal.
- Connect the other wire from your manual wall switch to the module's "S2" terminal.
- Ensure all connections are secure.
Note: The curtain module doesn't have a terminal for earth wire, so there's no need to connect the earth wire of the motor to the module. Connect the motor's earth wire (Green/Yellow) directly to the household earth wire.
2.2. Installation with Blinds with Built-in Driver (5-wire motor)
If your motor has a built-in driver and 5 wires (L, L1, L2, N, Earth Wire), follow the same wiring principles as above, ensuring the motor's L, L1, L2, and N wires are connected to the corresponding module outputs. The Earth Wire (PE) from the motor should be connected directly to the household earth wire.
2.3. Installation without a Physical Manual Switch
If you do not intend to use a physical manual switch, you can omit connecting wires to the S1 and S2 terminals. The module will then be controlled solely via the app or voice commands. Ensure all other power and motor connections are correct.
3. Physical Installation
- Once wired, carefully place the module into the wall switch box.
- If the module does not fit due to the screw holder, you can remove the screw holder with a pair of pliers.
- Secure the wall switch plate back in place.
- Restore AC power at the circuit breaker.
App Setup and Pairing
To control your roller blinds via smartphone, you need to download and set up the Smart Life or Tuya app.
- Download the App: Search for "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart" in your mobile app store (iOS App Store or Google Play Store) and download it.
- Register/Login: Open the app and register for a new account or log in if you already have one.
- Add Device:
- Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (5GHz Wi-Fi is not supported).
- In the app, tap the "+" icon (usually in the top right corner) to add a new device.
- Select "Curtain Switch" or "Curtain Module" from the device list.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to put the module into pairing mode. This usually involves pressing and holding the "Pairing Button" on the module until the indicator light flashes rapidly.
- Confirm the indicator light is flashing rapidly in the app and proceed.
- Enter your Wi-Fi network password.
- Wait for the app to discover and connect to the module. Once connected, you can rename the device.

Once paired, you can control your curtains/blinds from anywhere using the Smart Life/Tuya app.
- Open the Smart Life/Tuya app and select your curtain module.
- You will see controls to open, close, or pause your blinds.
2. Voice Control (Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant)
Integrate your module with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for hands-free control.
- Link your Smart Life/Tuya account to your Alexa or Google Home app.
- Discover devices in your Alexa/Google Home app.

User Tips
- Manual Switch Position for App Control: Before using the app to control the shutter, always ensure the wall manual switch is in the 'STOP' position. If the manual switch is in 'UP' or 'DOWN', the app control may not function correctly, as this is a protective measure for the motor.
- Wi-Fi Compatibility: This module is Wi-Fi only and operates on 2.4GHz networks. It is not compatible with 5GHz Wi-Fi networks or RF curtain remotes. Do not attempt to pair it with RF remotes.
- Shutter Angle Control: This module is designed for full open/close functionality of roller shutters. It does not support precise control of shutter angles or intermediate positions beyond what can be achieved by pausing the motor.
- Manual Switch Operation: When using the manual wall switch, a single impulse (press and release) should be sufficient to initiate movement. Pressing again will stop the movement.
Troubleshooting
- Module not pairing with app:
-
- Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Check if the module's indicator light is flashing rapidly (pairing mode). If not, press and hold the pairing button until it does.
- Verify your Wi-Fi password is correct.
- Move the module closer to your Wi-Fi router during pairing.
- App control not working:
-
- Ensure the manual wall switch is in the 'STOP' (neutral) position.
- Check your Wi-Fi connection and internet access.
- Restart the app and try again.
- Verify the module is still connected in the app.
- Motor not responding:
-
- Check all wiring connections for looseness or incorrect placement.
- Ensure the main AC power supply is on.
- Verify your motor is an AC motor and has 4 wires as required.
- Confirm the motor's maximum wattage (300W) is not exceeded.
- Voice control not working:
-
- Ensure your Smart Life/Tuya account is correctly linked to Alexa/Google Assistant.
- Check if the device is discovered and named appropriately in your voice assistant app.
- Verify your voice commands are clear and match the device name.
Maintenance
- Keep the module and surrounding area clean and free from dust.
- Do not expose the module to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.
- Regularly check wiring connections for any signs of wear or damage.
- For cleaning, use a dry, soft cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
