Your Kllisre X99 Motherboard Kit includes:
- Kllisre X99 Motherboard
- Intel Xeon E5 2680 V4 CPU (pre-installed or separate)
- 2 x 16GB DDR4 2400MHz ECC REG Memory Modules
4. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to assemble your Kllisre X99 Motherboard Kit into a functional system.
4.1 Motherboard Overview
Refer to Figure 2 for the location of various components and connectors on the motherboard.
4.2 CPU Installation (if not pre-installed)
- Locate the LGA 2011-3 CPU socket on the motherboard.
- Open the CPU socket retention mechanism.
- Carefully align the CPU with the socket, ensuring the gold triangle on the CPU matches the triangle on the socket.
- Gently place the CPU into the socket without forcing it.
- Close the retention mechanism to secure the CPU.
- Apply thermal paste to the CPU and install the CPU cooler (not included in this kit).
4.3 Memory (RAM) Installation
The motherboard supports 4 DDR4 memory slots in a Quad channel configuration. Your kit includes two 16GB DDR4 2400MHz ECC REG modules.
- Locate the four DDR4 memory slots on the motherboard.
- Open the clips at both ends of the memory slot.
- Align the notch on the memory module with the key in the memory slot.
- Insert the memory module firmly into the slot until the clips snap into place.
- For optimal performance, install memory modules in the recommended dual or quad-channel configuration (refer to motherboard manual for specific slot pairing).
Note: The server RAM (ECC REG) included in this kit may have compatibility issues with desktop RAM. Do not mix server and desktop memory types.
4.4 Storage Device Installation
The motherboard supports SATA 3.0 and M.2 (NVMe) storage devices.
- SATA Drives: Connect SATA data cables from your hard drives or SSDs to the SATA 3.0 ports on the motherboard. Connect SATA power cables from your power supply to the drives.
- M.2 NVMe SSDs: The motherboard features two M.2 slots. Insert the M.2 SSD into the slot at an angle, then push it down and secure it with the provided screw.
4.5 Expansion Card Installation
The motherboard includes PCIe 3.0 X16, PCIe 3.0 X4, and PCIe 2.0 X1 slots for expansion cards.
- Align your expansion card (e.g., graphics card) with the appropriate PCIe slot.
- Press down firmly until the card is seated correctly in the slot.
- Secure the card with a screw to the chassis.
4.6 Power Connections
- Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector from your power supply to the main 24-pin DC power socket on the motherboard.
- Connect the 8-pin EPS/ATX 12V power connector from your power supply to the 8-pin DC CPU power socket on the motherboard.
- Ensure all power connections are secure.
4.7 Front Panel and I/O Connections
Connect your case's front panel connectors (Power Switch, Reset Switch, HDD LED, Power LED) to the corresponding pins on the motherboard's front panel header. Refer to the motherboard's detailed diagram (Figure 2) for exact pin locations. Connect USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and audio headers as needed.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Initial Boot-up
- After completing all hardware installations, connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
- Connect the power cord to your power supply and turn on the power switch on the PSU.
- Press the power button on your computer case.
- The system should power on, and you should see a display on your monitor.
5.2 BIOS/UEFI Setup
To enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility, press the 'DEL' or 'F2' key repeatedly during the initial boot-up sequence. In the BIOS/UEFI, you can configure system settings, boot order, and monitor hardware status.
5.3 Operating System Installation
Insert your operating system installation media (USB drive or DVD) and follow the on-screen instructions to install your preferred operating system. Ensure all necessary drivers for the motherboard components are installed after the OS installation.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean your computer's interior to remove dust buildup, which can hinder cooling and component lifespan. Use compressed air to blow dust out of heatsinks and fans.
- CMOS Battery: The motherboard uses a standard CR2032 CMOS battery. Note that the battery is removed before shipping due to transportation regulations. You may need to install a new CR2032 battery if one is not present, or replace it if system time/BIOS settings are not retained after power loss.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Kllisre official website for updated BIOS/UEFI firmware to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Check all power connections (24-pin, 8-pin CPU, PSU switch, wall outlet).
- No Display: Ensure the monitor is connected to the graphics card (if installed) or the motherboard (if integrated graphics are present, though this board does not have integrated graphics). Reseat the graphics card and RAM modules.
- System Instability: This could be due to incompatible RAM, overheating, or faulty components. Verify RAM compatibility (ECC REG only for this kit) and check CPU/GPU temperatures.
- Component Variations: Please note that due to different batches of factory materials (PCB boards, heat sinks, PCI-e and RAM slots, etc.), the appearance and color of the motherboard may vary slightly from images. These variations do not affect product functionality.
