2. Safety Information

  • This product is a high-precision device; avoid dropping or impacting it.
  • Do not place the camera near strong magnetic objects (e.g., magnets, motors) or strong radio waves, as this may cause product failure or corrupt images and sound.
  • Avoid placing the camera in high temperatures or direct sunlight.
  • Use only brand-name Micro SD cards. Generic cards may not guarantee normal operation.
  • Do not store the Micro SD card near strong magnetic fields to prevent data loss.
  • If overheating, smoke, or unusual smells occur during charging, immediately disconnect power to prevent fire.

5. Setup

5.1. Inserting Micro SD Card

Insert a brand-name Micro SD card (up to 128GB) into the Micro SD slot on the side of the camera. Ensure the card is formatted on a computer before first use for optimal performance.

5.2. Installing and Removing the Battery

  1. Pull the battery cover down to open it.
  2. Align the battery according to the positive and negative symbols and arrow indicators, then insert it correctly until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove the battery, open the battery cover and gently pull the battery out.

5.3. Battery Charging

  1. Connect the camera to a computer or power adapter using the provided USB Type-C cable.
  2. The camera can be charged while recording.
  3. Charging is also possible when the camera is powered off.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Camera On/Off

  • To Turn On/Off: Long press the Power On/Off/Mode button for 3-5 seconds.
  • The screen turning on indicates the camera is powered on; the screen turning off indicates it is powered off.

6.2. Turn WiFi On/Off

  • To Turn On WiFi: Long press the UP button. The screen will display "WiFi Information".
  • To Turn Off WiFi: Short press the UP button.

6.3. Mode Conversion

After powering on, short press the Power On/Off/Mode button to switch between recording and photographing modes.

6.4. Indicator Lights

  • Work Indicator Light (Blue): Flashes during operation. Remains solid blue after an operation is completed. When WiFi is turned on, it flashes; after WiFi connection, it remains solid blue.
  • Charging Indicator Light (Red): Always on during charging. Turns off when fully charged.

6.5. Setting Photography and Video Options

  • Recording: Enter recording mode and press the OK button to start recording. The recording symbol on the screen will flash. Press OK again to stop recording; the symbol will stop flashing.
    Recording Modes: Video, Slowly (1080P 4X/2X, 720P 8X/4X), Loop (2/3/5 Min), Lapse (0.5/1/2/5/10/30/60 Sec).
  • Photography: Turn on the camera and navigate to the camera settings. Select the camera mode. When a camera icon appears in the upper left corner of the screen, you are in photo mode. Press the OK button to take a photo.
    Photo Modes: Photo, Auto (3/10/15/20/30 Sec), Burst (3P/s, 5P/s, 10P/s), Timer (3/5/10/20 Sec).

6.6. Store, Play, and Delete

  • Storage & Playback: After recording, connect the camera to a computer with the data cable to copy and play videos, or remove the Micro SD card and use a card reader.
  • File Deletion: In the file playback interface, long press the OK button to delete a single file.

6.7. Switch Between Large and Small Screens

Long press the Down/Zoom/Screen switching button to toggle between the main and front screens. Note that both screens cannot be displayed simultaneously.

6.8. WiFi App Installation and Use

Before using the WiFi function, download and install the "XDV PRO" application on your smartphone.

  • For iOS: Search "XDV PRO" in the App Store.
  • For Android: Search "XDV PRO" in the Android Play Store. (Note: Some older documentation might refer to "iSmart DV2" for Android, but "XDV PRO" is the current recommendation.)

Steps to Connect WiFi:

  1. After powering on the camera, long press the UP button to enable WiFi. The camera screen will display "WiFi Information".
  2. On your smartphone, open WiFi settings, search for the SSID "X17-******" (where ****** are unique characters) and connect. The default password is "1234567890".
  3. Open the "XDV PRO" app. Through the app, you can preview live footage, remotely control video recording and photo capture, and manage files (playback, download, delete, share).
  4. The app requires Android 4.1 or above, or iOS 7 or above. Scan the QR codes below to easily find the app.

  • Touch Screen Functionality: Please note that this model does not feature a touch screen. All operations are performed using the physical buttons.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Camera Not Turning On: Ensure the battery is correctly installed and charged. Long press the Power On/Off/Mode button for 3-5 seconds. If the issue persists, try charging the camera for at least 30 minutes.
  • Recording Issues: Check if a Micro SD card is inserted and properly formatted. Ensure there is sufficient storage space. If the card is full, transfer files or delete unnecessary ones. Use a high-speed, brand-name Micro SD card.
  • WiFi Connection Problems: Make sure WiFi is enabled on the camera (long press UP button). Verify the correct SSID ("X17-******") and password ("1234567890") are used on your smartphone. Ensure your phone's operating system meets the app requirements (Android 4.1+ or iOS 7+).
  • Unstable Video (without EIS): If Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) is not active, video may appear shaky. Ensure EIS is enabled in the camera settings for smoother footage, especially in action-packed scenarios.
  • Camera Freezing: If the camera freezes, try removing and reinserting the battery to perform a hard reset.

10. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera body. For the lens, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Waterproof Housing: After using the waterproof housing in saltwater, rinse it with fresh water and let it air dry. Regularly check the O-ring seal for any damage or debris.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the camera in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the battery if storing for a long time.
