2. Safety Warnings and Precautions

  • DO NOT input AC power. This module is designed for DC input only. Connecting to 220V mains power will cause severe damage.
  • The maximum allowable input voltage is 140V. Exceeding this voltage or reversing the positive and negative input poles will damage the module.
  • The output cannot be fully guaranteed to prevent backflow. When connecting to a battery, ensure the output voltage of the power module is always higher than the battery voltage. Alternatively, connect a diode in series with the positive output terminal to ensure one-way conduction and prevent battery voltage backflow, which could burn out the power supply.
  • When connecting the output terminal, be careful not to reverse the positive and negative poles.
  • This product is a step-down module. The maximum output voltage is approximately (input voltage * 0.95) - 1V. Ensure your input voltage is sufficient for your desired output.

  4. If the operating environment is .NET Framework 4.8 and the software does not run, you may need to download and install .NET Framework 4.8 from the official Microsoft website.

9. Maintenance

9.1 General Care

  • Keep the module clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the module, especially when operating at high power, to allow the cooling fan to function effectively.
  • Avoid exposing the module to moisture or extreme temperatures.

9.2 PCB Sinking Gold Process

PCB Sinking Gold Process Benefits

Figure 15: Benefits of PCB Sinking Gold Process

The PCB utilizes a sinking gold process to:

  • Prevent missing segments in the LCD after long-term use.
  • Protect circuit board pads from oxidation.
  • Improve PCB conductivity.
  • Reduce line impedance and contact resistance.

This process enhances the longevity and reliability of the module, requiring no special maintenance related to the PCB finish.

10. Troubleshooting

10.1 Calibration (CALU / CALI)

Voltage and Current Calibration Instructions

Figure 16: CALU (Voltage) and CALI (Current) Settings

If the output voltage or current is not accurate, it can be calibrated:

Output Current Calibration (CAL-I):

  1. Short press the power button. The first line displays "step 01", the second line displays a flashing current number. Short press the rotary encoder to shift between digits.
  2. Use a multimeter or electronic load to short circuit the output terminals and measure the actual current. Input this actual current value into the second line using the encoder.
  3. Short press the power button. The first line displays "step 02".
  4. Use a multimeter to measure the actual output current again and input it to the second row.
  5. Short press the power button to complete the calibration. If successful, the second line displays "SUC"; otherwise, it displays "Err". If it fails, try calibrating again.

Output Voltage Calibration (CAL-U):

  1. Short press the power button. The second line displays "step 01", the first line displays voltage with flashing numbers. Short press the rotary encoder to shift between digits.
  2. Use a multimeter to measure the actual voltage at the current output terminal (output terminal unloaded). Input this actual voltage value into the first row using the encoder.
  3. Short press the power button. The second line displays "step 02".
  4. Use a multimeter to measure the actual output voltage again and input it to the first row.
  5. Short press the power button to complete the calibration. If successful, the second line displays "SUC"; otherwise, it displays "Err". If it fails, try calibrating again.

10.2 Protection Triggered

If the output unexpectedly turns off, check the display for protection indicators (e.g., LUP, OUP, OCP, OPP, OTP, OHP, OAH, OPH). Refer to Section 7.4 for details on each protection mechanism and its default/adjustable values. Adjust settings or resolve the underlying issue (e.g., reduce load, increase input voltage) to clear the protection state.

10.3 Screen Issues

  • Screen not turning on: Check power connections. Ensure the SLP (Automatic Screen Shutdown Time) setting is not set too short or is disabled if you expect the screen to remain on.
  • Missing segments on LCD: While the sinking gold process helps prevent this, if it occurs, ensure connections are secure. If persistent, contact support.

11. User Tips

  • For precise control, utilize the fine adjustment capabilities of the rotary encoder when setting voltage and current.
  • Regularly check the module's temperature, especially during high-power operation, to ensure the cooling fan is active and preventing overheating.
  • When using the APP or PC software, ensure your communication module (ZK-BT or ZK-U2T) is correctly installed and recognized by the respective software.
  • Always perform a quick check of your set voltage and current before connecting sensitive loads.
