  • Roadside Installation: Install the radar on the roadside at a height of 2 meters. The radar should be positioned vertically to the road surface. The detection range is illustrated in the schematic diagram below.
  • Elevated Installation (e.g., Billboard or Overpass): When installing at a height of 6 meters, tilt the radar 3° towards the road surface to optimize detection.

4. Operating Instructions

Observe the following precautions and operating notes for effective use of the module:

  • Target Detection: This module is designed to detect only relatively moving targets within its detection area. It will not detect completely stationary objects. The output provides speed information for the nearest or fastest moving target within the detection zone.
  • Operating Modes:
    • Default Mode: The module defaults to continuous automatic reporting using protocol 7.
    • Query Mode: To switch to query mode, set the protocol type to 6 and send the hexadecimal query command: 55 5A 02 D3 84.
  • Enclosure Design Considerations: If you are designing a custom enclosure for the module, ensure the following:
    • Maintain a minimum distance of 6mm between the radar antenna surface and the inner surface of the housing.
    • The housing thickness in front of the antenna should be approximately 2-3mm.
    • The material covering the antenna surface must NOT be metal or metal-plated paint. Recommended materials include PC or plastic.
    • Metal materials can be used for the back of the antenna housing.

    • Ensure there are no obstructions or inappropriate enclosure materials (e.g., metal) directly in front of the antenna surface.
  • Module Not Responding to Commands: If attempting to use query mode, ensure the correct hexadecimal command (55 5A 02 D3 84) is sent after setting the protocol type to 6.
