How to Adjust Grind Setting

The CHESTNUT S3 features an external adjustment dial for precise control over grind size. The adjustment is 0.015mm per click, offering hyperfine regulation.

  1. Locking Knob: The locking knob is located at the bottom of the grinder. It is not used for grind size adjustment and should be kept tightened during daily use. To ensure proper alignment for adjustment, turn the knob clockwise until it cannot be turned further. This position aligns the '0' click as the starting point for external adjustment.
  2. External Adjustment Dial: While holding the handle and body, rotate the external adjustment dial.
    • Turning the dial clockwise will result in a finer grind.
    • Turning the dial counter-clockwise will result in a coarser grind.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Always clean the grinder with a cleaning brush or air blower.
  • DO NOT wash the grinder with water or any other liquids, as this can damage the internal components and burrs.
  • Ensure the grinder is completely dry before reassembly and storage.

Disassembly for Deep Cleaning

The CHESTNUT S3 is designed to be detachable for thorough cleaning:

  1. Unscrew the locking knob at the bottom of the grinder.
  2. Carefully remove the burr assembly and other internal components.
  3. Clean all parts using a brush or air blower.
  4. Reassemble the components, ensuring the locking knob is tightened.
  5. After reassembly, adjust the ring to set the '0' click position as described in the "How to Adjust Grind Setting" section.

Important Notes

  • Only grind roasted coffee beans. Do not use the grinder for other substances.
  • Be cautious of the sharp burrs to avoid cuts and scratches.
  • Keep the device out of reach of children.
  • It is not recommended to disassemble or replace the burr or other internal parts by yourself unless you are experienced. For special needs, contact professionals.

Troubleshooting

Adjustment Dial Feels Loose

Problem: The adjustment dial feels too loose to effectively adjust the coarseness.

Possible Cause: The internal spring or burrs may be stuck.

Solution:

  1. Hold the body and gently shake the handle until you hear a click. This indicates that the spring or burrs have become loose.
  2. If the issue persists, unscrew the lid above the bearing and carefully remove the entire burr set. Clean the burr sets thoroughly and reinstall them, ensuring all components are properly seated.

Warm Reminder: 0 Click Gap

At the '0' click setting, the gap between the internal and external burrs is precisely controlled at 0.075mm when the grinder leaves the factory. This minimum gap is reserved to account for manufacturing tolerances and prevent the internal and external burrs from cutting each other, which could cause irreparable damage. During '0' click grinding, the metal shaft pressed under the handle may shake slightly due to the rotation gap. This is normal and does not indicate a defect.
