2. Setup Guide
2.1. Download & Install the App
To begin, download the appropriate application for your smartphone:
- For iOS devices: Search for "TopGuru" in the App Store.
- For Android devices: Search for "TopScan" in Google Play.
2.2. Register & Log In
Open the installed app and log in to your TOPDON account. If you do not have an account, please register using your email address.
2.3. Bind the VCI (Vehicle Communication Interface)
Navigate to Me > Device Management > Add VCI within the app. You can obtain the serial number and activation code by scanning the QR code on the product. Alternatively, once the Bluetooth connection is established, the serial number and activation code may be automatically recognized. Tap Activate to complete the binding process.
2.4. Download Diagnostic Software
The TopScan Moto requires motorcycle-specific diagnostic software. The first time you use a diagnostic function, you will need to download the relevant software. Tap Diagnostics on the home screen and download the software for your motorcycle's make and model.
2.5. Connect TopScan Moto to Your Motorcycle
- Locate the DLC: The Data Link Connector (DLC) of your motorcycle is typically located under the seat or near the engine.

5. Troubleshooting
5.1. Communication Error
If you encounter a communication error, follow these steps to identify and resolve the problem:
- Check Ignition: Ensure the motorcycle's ignition is in the "ON" position.
- Check Connection: Verify that the TopScan Moto is securely plugged into the motorcycle's DLC.
- Power Cycle: Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on and attempt the operation again.
- Motorcycle Control Module: If the issue persists, check if the motorcycle's control module is defective.
5.2. Software Updates
Firmware will automatically update to the latest version once the TopScan Moto is connected to your phone via Bluetooth. You can also manually update the firmware by navigating to Me > Firmware Update in the app.
