2. Safety Precautions

  • Always disconnect the car battery's negative terminal before making any electrical connections.
  • Ensure all wiring is correctly routed and secured to prevent damage or short circuits.
  • Use appropriate gauge wiring for power and speaker connections as recommended.
  • Avoid installing the amplifier in locations exposed to direct sunlight, excessive heat, moisture, or dust.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the amplifier to prevent overheating.
  • If you are unsure about any installation steps, consult a professional car audio installer.

3. Product Overview

3.1 Internal Structure

The amplifier's internal design incorporates a high-power transformer, crucial for delivering continuous and stable sound quality. This robust power supply ensures consistent performance even under demanding conditions.

3.2 Heat Dissipation

Effective heat management is vital for amplifier longevity and performance. The C-266 features an external thickened heat sink with strategically placed heat dissipation holes. This design maximizes the contact surface with air, facilitating faster and more efficient heat dissipation.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Wiring Diagram

The following diagram illustrates the proper wiring connections for the C-266 amplifier, including power, ground, remote, and speaker outputs. The amplifier is designed with 8 horn holes, allowing for the connection of 4 speakers (each speaker requires two holes: one positive and one negative).

Connection Points:

  • GND: Connect to the vehicle's chassis (negative ground).
  • REM: Connect to the ACC control line from your head unit for remote turn-on.
  • B+: Connect to the 12V positive terminal of the car battery.
  • FUSE: Integrated double insurance for protection.
  • SPEAKER FRONT (Left/Right): Connect your front speakers to these terminals. Observe polarity (+ and -).
  • SPEAKER REAR (Left/Right): Connect your rear speakers to these terminals. Observe polarity (+ and -).
  • BRIDGED: Use these terminals for bridged mode operation (e.g., for a subwoofer), combining two channels into one higher power output.

4.2 Control Panel and Connections

The amplifier's control panel allows for fine-tuning of audio output. Ensure all audio input and output connections are secure before powering on the unit.

Control Functions:

  • NPF (Low Frequency Bandwidth Pressurization gear): Adjusts low-frequency bandwidth.
  • LPF (Low frequency regulation): Controls the low-pass filter for subwoofer integration.
  • BOOST (Low frequency adjustment): Enhances bass frequencies.
  • Gain (Volume adjustment): Adjusts the input sensitivity to match your head unit's output.
  • IN/OUT (Audio input): RCA inputs for connecting to your head unit.
  • HPF (Medium and high frequency adjustment): Controls the high-pass filter for full-range speakers.
  • FULL (Bandwidth gear): Allows full-range signal to pass.
  • Power/Protection indicators: LEDs indicating operational status (Power) or fault conditions (Protection).

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Once all connections are made and verified, turn on your car's ignition and head unit. The amplifier should power on automatically via the REM connection.
  2. Adjust Gain: Start with the Gain control at its minimum setting. Gradually increase the gain until the desired volume level is achieved without distortion. It's recommended to set the head unit volume to about 75% of its maximum before adjusting the amplifier gain.
  3. Set Crossover Frequencies (LPF/HPF):
    • For subwoofers, use the LPF (Low Pass Filter) to allow only low frequencies to pass.
    • For full-range speakers, use the HPF (High Pass Filter) to block low frequencies that can cause distortion.
    • Alternatively, select FULL for a full-range signal if your speakers can handle it.
  4. Adjust Boost: Use the BOOST control to fine-tune the bass response to your preference. Use sparingly to avoid distortion.
  5. Power Off: Turn off your head unit and car ignition. The amplifier will power off automatically.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the heat sink and ventilation holes remain clear of obstructions (e.g., dust, debris, carpeting) to maintain proper airflow and prevent overheating.
  • Connection Check: Occasionally check all wiring connections to ensure they are tight and free from corrosion.
  • Environmental Conditions: Protect the amplifier from extreme temperatures and moisture.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power:
    • Check the main power fuse (B+ connection).
    • Verify the ground connection (GND).
    • Ensure the remote turn-on wire (REM) is connected and receiving a 12V signal from the head unit.
  • No Sound:
    • Check all RCA audio input cables for secure connection.
    • Verify speaker wire connections and polarity.
    • Ensure the head unit is sending an audio signal.
    • Check amplifier gain settings.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the amplifier's Gain setting.
    • Check for proper crossover settings (LPF/HPF).
    • Ensure speaker impedance matches the amplifier's specifications.
    • Check for damaged speakers or wiring.
  • Amplifier Overheating (Protection LED On):
    • Check for proper ventilation around the amplifier.
    • Ensure speaker impedance is correct and not too low.
    • Reduce the volume or gain settings.
    • Allow the amplifier to cool down.

If problems persist, consult a qualified car audio technician.
