5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation and Charging
- Ensure the radio is powered off before installing or removing the battery.
- Align the 1500mAh Li-ion battery pack with the battery compartment on the back of the radio and push it firmly until it clicks into place.
- To charge, connect the Type-C charger cable to the Mic/Headset Charger Port on the radio.
- Plug the USB end of the cable into the provided wall adapter and then into a power outlet.
- The Status Indicator will typically show a red light during charging and turn green when fully charged.

5.2 Antenna Attachment
The antenna is integrated and not user-removable. This design helps prevent damage and ensures consistent performance.
5.3 Power On/Off
Press and hold the Power Switch button (red button) to turn the radio on or off. A voice prompt will indicate the power status.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Channel Selection
Use the CH+ and CH- buttons to cycle through the 16 available memory channels. A voice report will announce the current channel number.
6.2 PTT (Push-to-Talk) Function
To transmit, press and hold the PTT button (blue button) and speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to listen for a response. The BF-C50 features a Dual PTT button for ergonomic use.

6.3 Monitor Function
Press the MONI button to temporarily disable the squelch and listen to all activity on the current channel, including weak signals that might otherwise be suppressed.
6.4 VOX Function (Voice Operated Exchange)
The VOX function allows for hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice, eliminating the need to press the PTT button. This is particularly useful for activities like cycling or when your hands are occupied. Refer to the full English manual for activation and sensitivity adjustment.
6.5 Battery Save Function
This feature automatically reduces power consumption when no signal is being received and no operations are being performed, extending the battery life. It is typically enabled by default.
