  • Light Sensor: Located at the top, responsible for detecting illumination.
  • LCD Screen: Displays measurement readings, units, and status indicators.
  • Backlight/Unit Switch Button: Toggles backlight and switches between LUX and FC units.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The TA636A Lux Meter requires 2 x 1.5V AAA (R03/LR03) batteries (not included). Follow these steps to install them:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Use a suitable tool (e.g., a small screwdriver or coin) to open the cover.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the Power button (Power button icon) to turn the lux meter on or off.

5.2 Unit Switching (LUX/FC)

The device supports both LUX and FC units. Press the UNIT button (Unit button icon) to switch between LUX and FC measurement units.

5.3 Data Hold

To freeze the current reading on the display, press the HOLD button (Hold button icon). Press it again to release the hold function and resume live measurements.

5.4 Maximum/Minimum Value Measurement

To view the maximum or minimum measured values:

  1. Press the MAX/MIN button (Max/Min button icon) once to display the maximum value recorded.
  2. Press the MAX/MIN button again to display the minimum value recorded.
  3. Press it a third time to exit Max/Min mode and return to live measurement.

5.5 Backlight

The device features a backlight for improved visibility in low-light conditions. The backlight is typically activated by a short press of the Backlight/Unit switch button (refer to Figure 3 for location).

5.6 Auto Power Off (APO)

To conserve battery life, the lux meter will automatically shut down after 15 minutes of inactivity. This feature can be manually disabled if continuous operation is required (refer to the full PDF manual for instructions on disabling APO).

7.1 Cleaning

7.2 Storage

When storing the lux meter for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage to the device. Store in a cool, dry place within the specified storage environment temperature and humidity ranges (-10 ~ 50°C, Max 70%RH).

7.3 Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the LCD screen, replace the batteries as described in the "Battery Installation" section (4.1).

  • No Display/Device Not Turning On: Check if the batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the light sensor is clean and unobstructed. Verify that the correct measurement unit (LUX/FC) is selected.
