5. Setup

5.1 Charging the Battery

Before using your rotary tool for the first time, ensure the battery is fully charged. Connect the Type-C charging line to the charging port on the tool and plug the other end into a standard 5V 2A USB power adapter (not included) or a compatible USB port (e.g., on a laptop).

An LED light at the tail of the grinder will indicate the charging status. When the battery is fully charged, all LED lights will illuminate, and charging will stop automatically. If the battery is not in use for an extended period, charge it every two months to prevent deep discharge and ensure battery longevity.

5.2 Installing Accessories

The collet is crucial for securely holding accessories during high-speed rotation. Ensure the collet is tightened firmly to prevent unexpected movement or ejection of accessories.

  1. Selecting the Collet: The tool supports a clamping range of 0.5-3.2mm. Choose the appropriate inner collet (B) for your accessory's shank diameter.
  2. Loosening the Chuck: Hold down the Spindle Press Lock (E) to prevent the spindle from rotating. Use the provided wrench (10) to loosen the Outer Nut (A).
  3. Inserting the Accessory: Insert the shank of your desired accessory into the inner collet (B).
  4. Tightening the Chuck: While still holding the Spindle Press Lock (E), use the wrench (10) to tighten the Outer Nut (A) until the accessory is firmly clamped. Avoid over-tightening.
  5. Removing the Accessory: Reverse the process: hold the Spindle Press Lock (E), loosen the Outer Nut (A) with the wrench, and remove the accessory.

6. Operation

6.1 Getting Started

Before working on your final project, practice on scrap materials to get a feel for the tool at different speeds and with various accessories. Always wear safety goggles during operation.

  • Grip: Hold the tool like a pencil for precision work (using thumb and forefinger). For more efficient operations like grinding a flat surface, a one-handed grip can be used.
  • Airflow: Be careful not to block the vents with your hands during operation, as this can cause overheating.
  • Approach: Gently lower the accessory onto the workpiece. Do not press hard; instead, focus on guiding the tool with light pressure. This allows the motor to run at a uniform speed for the best grinding effect.
  • Layered Work: For most tasks, it's more effective to perform a series of light passes rather than trying to complete everything in one go. This approach provides better control and reduces the likelihood of errors.

6.2 Speed Control

The rotary tool features a 3-speed control system, adjustable via the Speed Control Button (H). The speed can be changed during operation.

  • Speed Range: The tool operates between 8500 r/min and 21000 r/min.
  • Indicator: The Gear Indicator Light (G) will illuminate according to the selected speed setting.
  • Low Speed (e.g., 8500-16500 r/min): Ideal for felt polishing, delicate wood carving, and working with fragile model parts. Also recommended for wire brushing to prevent bristles from detaching.
  • High Speed (e.g., 21000 r/min): Suitable for drilling, carving, and cutting tasks, especially on hard materials like hardwood, metal, and glass.

Always select the appropriate speed based on the material and the accessory being used. Some materials may require slower speeds to prevent heat buildup from friction, which could cause damage.

6.3 Polishing and Cutting Operations

  • Always use an undamaged grinding wheel of the correct size and shape for the task.
  • For threaded grinding heads and mandrels, use a high-quality mandrel with a complete shoulder of appropriate size and length to reduce the likelihood of rupture.
  • Do not "jam" the cutting wheel or apply excessive pressure. Excessive pressure increases the load, making the grinding wheel prone to twisting or getting stuck, which can lead to recoil or rupture.
  • Keep your hands clear of the wheel's path. If recoil occurs, the rotating wheel and power tool could be pushed directly towards you.
  • If the grinding wheel gets stuck or stops cutting, immediately turn off the power tool. Do not move the tool until the wheel has completely stopped.
  • Do not attempt to remove a cutting wheel from a cut while it is still turning.
  • To restart a cutting operation in a workpiece, wait until the grinding wheel reaches its maximum speed before carefully re-entering the cut.
  • Support large workpieces to minimize snagging or sticking. Supports should be placed near the cut and along the edges of the workpiece.

6.4 Wire Brush Cleaning Operations

Wire brushes can shed wires even during normal operation. Do not apply excessive load to the wire brush. Wire hairs can easily penetrate clothing and skin.

  • Allow the wire brush to run at working speed for at least 1 minute before use.
  • During this test run, ensure no one is standing in front of or in line with the wire brush, as loose wires may be thrown out.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Care

  • To maintain battery health, charge the battery every two months if the tool is not in regular use. This prevents the battery from entering a deep discharge state, which can make it difficult to recharge.
  • When the battery is near exhaustion, the tool may shut down more frequently due to locked-rotor protection. If this happens, recharge the battery promptly.

7.2 General Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the tool and accessories to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the tool. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, ensuring no moisture enters the tool's internal components.
  • Clean accessories after each use to remove debris and maintain their effectiveness.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Locked-Rotor Protection

This grinder features a built-in locked-rotor protection function to safeguard the motor and lithium battery from damage. If the attachment becomes blocked or stuck on the workpiece, especially at high speeds, the tool will automatically shut down.

  • Solution: Remove the tool from the workpiece. Turn the tool off for approximately 3 seconds, then turn it back on.
  • Note: If the battery is low, this protection may activate more frequently. Recharge the battery if this occurs.

8.2 Rebound

Rebound is a sudden reaction force caused by a spinning accessory (wheel, wire brush, etc.) getting stuck or entangled. This can cause the tool to move unexpectedly in the opposite direction of the accessory's rotation.

  • Prevention:
    • Maintain a firm grip on the power tool, ensuring your body and arms are in a position to resist sudden movements.
    • Be especially careful when working on sharp corners or edges, as these can cause accessories to snag and lead to rebound.
    • When the accessory exits the workpiece, maintain the same direction of entry.
    • Avoid "jamming" the cutting wheel or applying excessive pressure, which increases the risk of the wheel getting stuck.

9. User Tips

  • Light Touch: For optimal results and control, use a light touch when operating the tool. Avoid pressing hard, as this can reduce motor speed and effectiveness.
  • Accessory Balance: For high-precision work, ensure accessories are properly balanced. Loosen the chuck nut slightly, adjust the accessory to be centered, then re-tighten. Run the tool to check for balance and adjust as needed. Replace damaged or unbalanced accessories.
  • Wrench for Bits: Always keep the provided wrench handy for quick and secure accessory changes.
  • Battery Life: To maximize battery life, avoid deep discharges and recharge regularly, especially if the tool is stored for extended periods.
  • Material Compatibility: Experiment with different speeds and accessories on scrap material to understand the best combination for your specific project and material type.
