2. Getting Started (Setup)

2.1 Getting to Know Your Player

Familiarize yourself with the physical components and controls of your M4 Music Player:

  • Speaker: Integrated speaker for audio playback.
  • TF Card Slot: For external memory expansion (supports up to 128GB).
  • 2.4-inch TFT Full Touch Screen: Main display and interaction interface.
  • Volume +: Button to increase volume.
  • Volume -: Button to decrease volume.
  • Power ON/OFF: Button to turn the device on or off.
  • Headphone Jack: 3.5mm port for wired headphones.
  • Type-C Port: For charging and data transfer.

2.2 Charging the Player

To charge your M4 player, connect it to a computer or a wall charger using the supplied USB cable. The device features a 300mAh lithium-ion battery.

While charging, observe the battery icon in the top right corner of the player's screen:

  • Moving Power Bar (one to four segments): Indicates active charging.
  • Four Solid Segments (not moving): Indicates the device is fully charged.

Attention: Use only a 5V/500mA charger for charging. Using an incompatible charger may lead to product failure.

2.3 Switching the Unit On/Off

  • To Switch On: Tap and hold the Power ON/OFF button for approximately 3 seconds.
  • To Switch Off: Tap the Power ON/OFF button. The screen will display "Power Off" to confirm the unit is shutting down.

2.4 Data Transfer

Connect the M4 player to your computer using the supplied USB cable. You can transfer media files by dragging and dropping them as you would with a flash drive. Alternatively, use music management software like Windows Media Player. Note that iTunes is not supported for direct file transfer.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Basic Audio Functions

  • Volume Up: Tap the '+' button.
  • Volume Down: Tap the '-' button.

3.2 Music Playback

Tap the 'Music' icon on the main screen to access your music library. The player supports HIFI lossless sound quality with a digital noise reduction chip.

Attention:

  • Only 4000 music tracks can be displayed in the music lists. To find all tracks, navigate to the 'Folders' section.
  • To better organize your music, it is recommended to create custom folders on your PC/Mac rather than relying on the 3 default playlists. Play music from 'Folder view' after organizing.

3.3 Movie Playback

Tap the 'Movie' icon to view video files.

Excellent viewing experience for videos.

Attention:

  • The player only supports AMV & AVI video formats with a resolution of 240*320.
  • If your video files are not in the supported format, you will need to convert them using a video conversion tool. Contact SWOFY service if you need assistance with this.

3.4 FM Radio

Tap the 'Radio' icon to access the FM radio function. The player includes HD speakers.

FM Recording

To record FM radio, tap the FM icon, then check the menu of settings and choose the option "Start FM radio recording". You can pause, continue, save, or cancel recordings.

FM Band Selection

To select the FM band, enter the settings menu of FM and tap on "Tuner Region". Available bands include:

  • Common Band: 87.5 MHZ ~ 108.0 MHZ
  • Japan Band: 76MHZ ~ 90MHZ
  • Euro Band: 87.5 MHZ ~ 108.0 MHZ

3.5 Bluetooth Connectivity

The M4 player features upgraded Bluetooth 5.3 for stable transmission, strong signal, and wide compatibility with Bluetooth earphones, headphones, and speakers. It supports bi-directional Bluetooth.

Pairing with Bluetooth Devices:

  1. Turn on your Bluetooth speaker or headset and ensure it is in pairing mode.
  2. Turn on the Bluetooth mode on your M4 player and initiate a search for nearby Bluetooth devices.
  3. Once the search is successful, select the desired Bluetooth device from the list to begin pairing.

Attention:

  • The M4 player cannot pair with smartphones.
  • The ACC-LC music format is not supported when playing via Bluetooth.
  • When listening to FM radio via Bluetooth, wired headphones must be connected to the M4 player to act as a radio antenna.

3.6 E-Book Reader

Tap the 'EBook' icon to access and read e-book files.

Attention: Only TXT files are supported for e-books.

3.7 Settings

Tap the 'Settings' icon to configure various device options.

3.8 Folder Management

Tap the 'Folder' icon to browse and manage files stored on the device's internal memory or an inserted TF card.

Attention:

  • Files in the MP3 and SD card memory are sorted by edit time. The first file dropped in will appear at the top.
  • If you rename a file or make other modifications, it will move to the bottom of the list. This sorting behavior applies only to the 'Folder' view, not 'Music' view.
  • When using audiobooks, remember to add bookmarks for easy navigation.

3.9 Voice Recorder

The 'Record' function allows you to capture audio, useful for classes, speeches, or meetings.

Line-in Voice Recording

You can record audio directly from a smartphone to the MP3 player using a line-in cable:

  1. Connect the MP3 player and your smartphone using a line-in (AUX) cable.
  2. Navigate to 'Recordings' > 'Record settings' > 'Record from' > 'Line in'.
  3. Press the back button to return, then press the record button to start recording.
  4. After saving the file, press the list button to select the file for playback.

4. Additional Functions

The M4 player includes several other useful functions:

  • Photo Viewer: View image files.
  • Stopwatch: For timing activities.
  • Alarm Clock: Set alarms.
  • Calendar: Access a calendar function.
  • Theme: Customize the device's interface theme.

6. User Tips

  • The player supports multiple languages, including Hebrew, German, French, Italian, and 29 other languages.
  • The 2.4-inch full touch screen offers quick and intuitive navigation for all functions.
  • For optimal audio quality, utilize the HIFI lossless sound and digital noise reduction features.
  • Consider expanding storage with a micro SD card up to 128GB for extensive music libraries.
  • For extended listening, wired earbuds provide up to 50 hours of music playback. FM radio recording lasts about 7.5 hours.
  • To save power on your mobile phone, use the M4 player as a dedicated music and media device.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Problem: Computer cannot detect MP3 Player.
    Solution: Update your USB driver to version 2.0 or try another USB cable. If the issue persists, contact SWOFY Technical Support.
  • Problem: ACC-LC music format not playing via Bluetooth.
    Solution: The ACC-LC music format is not supported under the Bluetooth playing mode.
  • Problem: No FM radio reception via Bluetooth.
    Solution: When listening to FM radio via Bluetooth, wired headphones must be connected to the M4 player to act as a radio antenna.
  • Problem: MP3 Player not pairing with a smartphone.
    Solution: The M4 player is designed to pair with Bluetooth headsets and speakers, not with smartphones.
  • Problem: E-books not displaying.
    Solution: Ensure e-book files are in TXT format, as only TXT files are supported.
  • Problem: Video files not playing.
    Solution: Only AMV & AVI formats with 240*320 resolution are supported. Use a video conversion tool if necessary; contact SWOFY service for assistance.
  • Problem: Battery not charging or product failure.
    Solution: Only use a 5V/500mA charger for charging.
  • Problem: Music files not appearing in expected order.
    Solution: Files are sorted by edit time. Renaming or modifying files will move them to the bottom of the list. For better organization, create custom folders on your PC/Mac instead of relying on default playlists.
  • Problem: Player unresponsive.
    Solution: Insert a thin needle into the reset hole (located near the headphone jack) or hold the power button for 15 seconds to reset the device.
