1. Introduction

The WEP 992D-III is a versatile 2-in-1 hot air rework station and precision soldering iron designed for electronic repair and assembly. It features a microcomputer digital display for precise temperature control, quick heating capabilities, and user-friendly functions to enhance efficiency and safety in various applications, including micro-sized SMD component work.

2. Safety Instructions

• Always operate the station in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and heat-resistant gloves.
• Ensure the power supply matches the voltage requirements of the unit.
• Do not touch the hot air gun nozzle or soldering iron tip when in use or immediately after use, as they reach very high temperatures.
• Place the hot air gun and soldering iron in their respective holders when not in active use.
• Keep flammable materials away from the work area.
• Unplug the unit from the power outlet when not in use or before performing any maintenance.
• Do not use the unit if the power cord or any part of the station is damaged.

5. Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
2. Placement: Place the main unit on a stable, heat-resistant surface in a well-ventilated area. Ensure adequate space around the unit for airflow.
3. Connect Hot Air Gun: Connect the hot air gun cable to the designated port on the main unit.
4. Install Hot Air Nozzle: Select the appropriate hot air nozzle for your task. The nozzles are quick-change and do not require tools for installation or removal. Simply push the nozzle onto the hot air gun's tip until it clicks into place.

   

   

5. Connect Soldering Iron: Connect the soldering iron cable to its dedicated port on the main unit.
6. Install Soldering Tip: Insert the desired soldering tip into the soldering iron handpiece. Ensure it is securely seated.
7. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the main unit and then to a suitable power outlet. Ensure the plug type matches your region's standard.

   

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

• Flip the main power switch on the front panel to turn the unit on or off.

6.2 Hot Air Gun Operation

1. Temperature Adjustment: Use the "TEMP" up/down buttons on the main unit to set the desired hot air temperature (100℃ to 500℃).
2. Airflow Adjustment: Use the "AIR" knob to adjust the airflow rate.
3. One-Button Conversion (Hot/Cold Air): Press the blue button on the hot air gun handle to switch between heating mode and cold air mode.

   

4. Preset Channels: Use the CH1, CH2, CH3 buttons on the main unit to quickly recall pre-set hot air temperature and airflow settings. To save a setting, adjust to the desired temperature/airflow, then press and hold the desired channel button until it beeps.

   

6.3 Soldering Iron Operation

1. Temperature Adjustment: Use the "TEMP" up/down buttons on the main unit to set the desired soldering iron temperature (90℃ to 450℃).
2. Quick-Button Temperature Adjustment: The soldering iron handle features buttons to quickly adjust the temperature up or down.

   

3. Preset Channels: Use the CH1, CH2, CH3 buttons on the main unit to quickly recall pre-set soldering iron temperature settings. To save a setting, adjust to the desired temperature, then press and hold the desired channel button until it beeps.

6.4 Hotkey Operation (Advanced Settings)

Press and hold the "MENU" button for about 2 seconds to access advanced settings like Buzzer ON/OFF, Temperature Display Mode (°C/°F Conversion), and Digital Temperature Calibration.

7. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Regularly clean the soldering iron tip with a damp sponge or brass wool. Clean the hot air gun nozzle and the main unit with a soft, dry cloth. Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before cleaning.
• Tip Care: Always tin the soldering iron tip before storing it to prevent oxidation.
• Sleep Mode & Auto Shutdown: The unit features a sleep mode for the soldering iron (when placed in its holder) and an auto-shutdown function (5 minutes after sleep mode) to prolong the lifespan of the heating elements and save energy.

  

• Storage: Store the unit in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use.

8. Troubleshooting

• Unit does not power on:
  • Check if the power cord is securely connected to both the unit and the power outlet.
  • Ensure the power switch is in the "ON" position.
  • Verify the power outlet is functional.
• Hot air gun or soldering iron not heating:
  • Check if the temperature is set correctly on the display.
  • Ensure the hot air gun or soldering iron is properly connected to the main unit.
  • If the heating element is suspected to be damaged, refer to the warranty information.
• Inaccurate temperature readings:
  • Perform a temperature calibration as described in the Hotkey Operation section.
• No airflow from hot air gun:
  • Check the airflow knob setting.
  • Ensure the hot air gun is not obstructed.

Warranty Coverage:

• The transformer or the fuse holder is damaged.

Conditions for Warranty Service:

• The order is not in dispute and has not been refunded.
• The item has not been disassembled and repaired by unauthorized personnel.
• The buyer is responsible for the freight costs associated with the replacement of parts.
