2. Package Contents

3. Setup Guide
3.1 Initial Charging
- Connect the provided Type-C USB charging cable to the charging port on the bottom of the BB18.
- Connect the other end of the cable to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
- Charge the device fully before first use. A full charge takes approximately 1.5 hours and provides about 30 hours of battery life.
3.2 Mounting the Device
- Select a suitable location on your bicycle handlebars or stem for the Stand Base.
- Place a Rubber Cushion between the Stand Base and your bike to prevent slipping and protect the surface.
- Secure the Stand Base using the Rubber Rings, ensuring it is firmly attached and does not move during rides.
- Align the BB18 GPS Computer with the Stand Base and twist it clockwise until it locks securely into place.
3.3 Power On/Off
- Power On: Press and hold the power button (usually the bottom-left button) until the screen illuminates.
- Power Off: Press and hold the power button until the device prompts you to shut down, then confirm.
3.4 App Download and Pairing
The Blackbird App allows for customized data pages, firmware updates, and live track sharing.
- Scan the QR code below corresponding to your mobile operating system (Android or iOS) to download the 'blackbirdsport' app.
- Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone.
- Open the Blackbird App and follow the on-screen instructions to pair your BB18 device. Ensure the BB18 is powered on and within Bluetooth range.

3.5 Sensor Pairing (ANT+ & BLE 5.0)
The BB18 supports connection with various external cycling sensors.
- Ensure your external sensors (heart rate, speed, cadence, power meter) are active and within range of the BB18.
- On the BB18, simultaneously press the two bottom-left and bottom-right buttons to enter the Sensor Connection page.
- The device will scan for available sensors. Select the desired sensor from the list to pair.
- Once paired, the sensor data will be displayed on your BB18.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Display and Navigation
The BB18 features a 2.4-inch screen capable of displaying up to 29 cycling data items across 1-5 customizable pages. Use the two physical buttons at the bottom of the device for navigation and selection.

4.2 Customizing Data Pages
You can customize the number of pages and the location of data items on each page using the Blackbird App. After making changes in the app, ensure the device is connected via Bluetooth and save the settings to apply them to your BB18.
4.3 GPS Positioning
The BB18 utilizes a 4-system satellite positioning system for accurate global positioning: GPS, BEIDOU, GLONASS, and GALILEO. For optimal signal acquisition, ensure you are outdoors when starting your ride.

4.4 Intelligent Backlight
The device features an intelligent backlight that automatically adjusts based on ambient light conditions. It will turn on automatically when it's evening or when you enter a dark area like a tunnel, ensuring readability.

4.5 Automatic Pause
The BB18 includes an automatic pause function. When no movement is detected, data recording will automatically pause. Resuming movement will continue the data recording, ensuring accurate ride statistics without manual intervention.

4.6 Core Training Data & Heart Rate Alarm
The device, especially when paired with external sensors, can help you pace your training by displaying core training data like heart rate zones and power output. You can configure heart rate alarm ranges according to your individual training needs via the Blackbird App.

4.7 Live Track Sharing
Share your current ride tracks via the Blackbird App to keep your instructor or family informed of your current situation. This feature requires the bike computer to maintain a Bluetooth connection to the app.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the screen or casing.
5.2 Waterproofing
The BB18 is IPX7 waterproof, offering maximum protection against water ingress in rainy weather. While it can withstand splashes and brief immersion, avoid prolonged submersion or high-pressure water jets.

5.3 Firmware Updates
Periodically check the Blackbird App for available firmware updates. Updates can improve performance, add new features, or fix bugs. Follow the app's instructions for a smooth update process.
6. Troubleshooting
- No GPS Signal: Ensure you are outdoors in an open area. GPS signal acquisition may take longer in dense urban areas or under heavy tree cover.
- Device Not Pairing with App: Check that Bluetooth is enabled on both your phone and the BB18. Ensure the app is updated to the latest version. Restart both devices and try again.
- External Sensor Not Connecting: Verify the sensor is active and its battery is charged. Ensure the sensor is within close proximity to the BB18. Re-enter the Sensor Connection page on the BB18 and try pairing again.
- Short Battery Life: Ensure the device is fully charged (approx. 1.5 hours). Excessive use of backlight or continuous sensor connections can reduce battery life.
