4. Setup
4.1 Unboxing and Inspection
- Carefully open the packaging and remove the fusion splicer and all accessories.
- Verify that all components listed in Section 2.2 are present and undamaged.
- Familiarize yourself with the main unit, including the display, control buttons, fiber clamps, and heating oven.
4.2 Battery Installation and Charging
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the splicer.
- Insert the provided 4800mAh lithium battery, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
- Connect the power adapter to the splicer's power input and then to a suitable AC power outlet (AC100-240V50/60Hz). The battery charging indicator will illuminate.
- Allow approximately 3.5 hours for a full charge. The splicer can be operated while charging.
4.3 Initial Power On and Language Selection
- Press the power button to turn on the splicer.
- Upon first use, you may be prompted to select a language. Use the navigation buttons to choose your preferred language (e.g., English, Spanish, Chinese) and confirm.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Fiber Preparation
Proper fiber preparation is crucial for successful splicing.
- Stripping: Use the fiber optic stripper (e.g., CFS-3) to carefully remove the outer jacket and coating of the fiber, exposing the bare fiber. Ensure the stripped length is appropriate for your cleaver.
- Cleaning: Clean the bare fiber thoroughly with a lint-free wipe moistened with 60ML alcohol. This removes any contaminants that could affect splice quality.
- Cleaving: Place the cleaned, bare fiber into the fiber cleaver. Ensure the fiber is positioned correctly and make a precise, clean cut. A good cleave is essential for low splice loss.
5.2 Splicing Process
- Place Heat Shrink Sleeve: Before placing the fiber in the splicer, slide a heat shrink protection sleeve onto one of the prepared fibers. Ensure it is far enough from the end to not interfere with splicing.
- Load Fibers: Open the splicer's lid. Carefully place the two prepared fibers into the V-grooves of the splicer, ensuring they are seated correctly in the three-in-one clamps. Close the fiber clamps.
- Initiate Splicing: Close the splicer's lid. The machine will automatically begin the alignment process using its four-motor core alignment system.
- Arc Discharge & Fusion: Once aligned, the splicer will perform an arc discharge to fuse the two fiber ends together. The display will show the splice loss.
- Heat Shrink: After successful splicing, open the lid, carefully move the heat shrink sleeve over the splice point, and place it in the heating oven. Close the oven lid to initiate heating. The splicer will automatically heat the sleeve to protect the splice.
- Remove Spliced Fiber: Once heating is complete, carefully remove the fiber from the heating oven. Allow the sleeve to cool before handling.
5.3 Display and Control Panel
The 3.5-inch TFT color LCD provides real-time information. The 3D button control panel allows navigation through menus and selection of various modes:
- Splicing Mode: Select from 17 different splicing modes.
- Heating Mode: Choose from 9 different heating modes.
- Operation Options: Configure various settings.
- Application Menu: Access specific functions.
- Maintenance Menu: For calibration and diagnostics.
- Storage Record: Review up to 5000 past splice results.
- Language: Switch between supported languages.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Regular cleaning is essential for optimal performance and longevity of the splicer.
- Use the provided cleaning tools (brush, blower) to keep the V-grooves, electrodes, and optical components free from dust and fiber debris.
- Clean the display screen with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Ensure the alcohol bottle is refilled with appropriate cleaning alcohol.
6.2 Electrode Needle Replacement
The electrode needles are consumable parts. After approximately 3000 splices, the welding loss may increase, indicating the need for replacement. Failure to replace worn electrodes will negatively affect the welding index and splice quality.
- Turn off the splicer and disconnect the power.
- Refer to the detailed instructions in the full user manual for safe electrode replacement procedures.
- Use only genuine replacement electrode needles.
6.3 Battery Care
- Charge the battery fully before first use.
- Avoid completely discharging the battery to prolong its lifespan.
- Store the splicer and battery in a cool, dry place when not in use.
6.4 Software Updates
The USB interface allows for convenient software updates. Periodically check the manufacturer's website for the latest firmware versions and follow the provided instructions for updating.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your SAIVXIAN A-15F Fusion Splicer, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Poor Splice Loss:
- Ensure fibers are properly stripped, cleaned, and cleaved. A poor cleave is a common cause of high splice loss.
- Check the electrode needles. If they are worn (e.g., after ~3000 splices), replace them.
- Clean the V-grooves and optical components thoroughly.
- Perform an arc calibration from the Maintenance Menu.
- Splicer Not Powering On:
- Check if the battery is properly installed and charged.
- Verify the power adapter connection if operating on AC power.
- Display Issues:
- Restart the device.
- Ensure the display is clean and free from obstructions.
- Fiber Not Clamping Securely:
- Ensure the fiber is correctly seated in the V-grooves and the clamps are closed properly.
- Inspect the clamps for any damage or debris.
For more detailed troubleshooting and error codes, please consult the comprehensive user manual included with your product.
8. User Tips
- Language Setting: The splicer supports multiple languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian, Italian, Vietnamese, and Chinese. You can easily switch between these languages in the settings menu to suit your preference.
- Night Work: Utilize the built-in LED lighting feature for improved visibility when working in dimly lit environments.
- Regular Calibration: Periodically perform maintenance calibrations as recommended in the full manual to ensure consistent splice quality.
