Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in serious injury or death.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection, hearing protection, and sturdy footwear.
- Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts, especially the cutting blade.
- Ensure the area is clear of other people, children, and pets before starting the mower.
- Remove any debris (rocks, sticks, wires) from the lawn before mowing.
- Never operate the mower in wet grass or rain.
- Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke while refueling.
- Do not operate the mower if guards or safety devices are damaged or removed.
- Mow across the face of slopes, never up and down. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes.
- Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance or clearing blockages.
Setup
1. Unpacking and Assembly
- Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Handle Assembly: Attach the upper handle to the lower handle using the provided bolts and knobs. Ensure the cables are not pinched.
- Grass Collection Bag Assembly: Assemble the grass bag frame and attach the fabric bag. Securely hook the assembled grass bag onto the rear of the mower.
2. Adding Engine Oil
- Place the mower on a level surface.
- Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Remove the cap and slowly add 4-stroke engine oil (refer to specifications for recommended type and volume) until the oil level reaches the "FULL" mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
- Securely replace the oil fill cap.
3. Adding Fuel
- Ensure the engine is off and cool.
- Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher.
- Locate the fuel tank cap.
- Slowly fill the fuel tank, leaving a small space for expansion. Do not overfill.
- Securely replace the fuel tank cap.
4. Adjusting Cutting Height
- Ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected.
- Locate the height adjustment levers, typically near the wheels.
- Move the levers to the desired cutting height. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Operating Instructions
1. Starting the Engine
- Ensure the spark plug wire is securely connected.
- Push the primer bulb (if equipped) 3-5 times until fuel is visible.
- Move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position (if equipped).
- Hold the engine brake lever against the handle.
- Pull the starter rope with a firm, steady motion until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
2. Mowing
- Push the mower at a comfortable, steady pace.
- Overlap cutting swaths slightly to ensure an even cut.
- Avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass blade length at a time.
- Empty the grass collection bag when it is full to maintain optimal performance.
3. Stopping the Engine
- Release the engine brake lever. The engine should stop automatically.
- For emergency stops, simply release the engine brake lever.
- After the engine has stopped and cooled, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety during inspection or maintenance.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your lawn mower. Always turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.
1. Cleaning
- After each use, clean grass clippings from the underside of the mower deck using a brush or scraper.
- Wipe down the engine and exterior surfaces. Do not use a pressure washer directly on the engine.
2. Engine Oil Change
- Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 25-50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
- Refer to the engine manual for specific oil change procedures.
3. Air Filter
- Inspect the air filter regularly (every 25 hours or seasonally).
- Clean or replace the air filter element if it is dirty. A clogged air filter can reduce engine performance.
4. Spark Plug
- Inspect the spark plug annually or every 100 hours.
- Clean or replace the spark plug if it is fouled or worn. Ensure the gap is set correctly according to specifications.
5. Blade Maintenance
- Inspect the blade regularly for sharpness and damage.
- Sharpen or replace the blade as needed. A dull blade can tear grass, leading to an unhealthy lawn.
- Ensure the blade is balanced after sharpening to prevent excessive vibration.
6. Storage
- For long-term storage, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer.
- Change the engine oil.
- Clean the mower thoroughly.
- Store in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
