Thank you for purchasing the SinoTrack GPS tracker. This manual provides detailed instructions on how to operate the device smoothly. Please read this manual carefully before using the device. Note that any updates to the manual are made without prior notice and will be released with the latest product sales. The manufacturer assumes no legal responsibility for any errors or omissions in this manual.

Product Overview

The SinoTrack GPS Tracker operates on existing GSM/GPRS networks and GPS satellites to locate and monitor remote targets via SMS, mobile application, and the internet. It utilizes advanced GPS and AGPS dual positioning technology.

Setup Instructions

1. SIM Card Installation

The tracker requires a GSM SIM card. If using a 3G or 4G card, ensure it supports GSM functionality. The SIM card must not have a PIN code enabled.

  1. Open the rubber cover on the side of the tracker.
  2. Insert the SIM card (chip facing up) into the slot.
  3. Ensure the SIM card is correctly seated.

Important SIM Card Requirements:

  • Only GSM SIM cards work with this model.
  • The SIM card must support making calls, sending messages, and GPRS network.
  • Ensure the SIM card has sufficient balance.
  • The GSM card must have call ID display function enabled and call transfer turned off.

2. Initial Charging and Power On

  1. Charge the device for at least 1 hour using the provided USB cable. The blue indicator light will show charging status.
  2. Take the tracker to an open outdoor area to ensure it can acquire a GPS signal.
  3. Turn on the switch located under the rubber cover. The indicator light will be on when the SIM card is inserted.
  4. The device will acquire GPS location when a GPS signal is available, or LBS location if no GPS signal.
  5. The device automatically turns off when the SIM card is removed.

Operating Instructions

1. Indicator Light Status

2. Working Modes

The tracker offers three working modes to optimize battery life and tracking frequency. Battery life estimates are for the 5000mAh battery.

  1. WORK - Keep Working Mode:
    • The tracker remains active and sends data at regular time intervals.
    • Battery life: Approximately 2-3 days.
    • To set: Send SMS command WORK0000 to the tracker. Reply: SET OK!
  2. MOVE - Work When Moving Mode (Factory Default):
    • The tracker is active only when it detects movement. When stationary, it enters sleep mode, GPS shuts off, and GSM operates in low consumption mode.
    • Vibration, an SMS command, or a call to the tracker can wake it up for 5 minutes.
    • Battery life: Approximately 4-7 days.
    • To set: Send SMS command MOVE0000 to the tracker. Reply: SET OK!
  3. STANDBY - SMS or Call to Tracker Mode:
    • The tracker stays in standby mode with GPS off and GSM in low consumption. It wakes up for 5 minutes upon receiving an SMS or a call.
    • Battery life: Approximately 10-15 days.
    • To set: Send SMS command STANDBY0000 to the tracker. Reply: SET OK!

Note: Using 4G network for ST-905L may consume approximately 20% more battery than 2G.

3. SMS Tracking Commands

You can control and get location information from the tracker by sending SMS commands to its SIM card number. A blank space is represented by _ in the commands below.

  • Get Location: Call the SIM card phone number in the tracker, or send SMS message 6690000. You will receive a Google Maps link of the tracker's position.
  • Set Admin Number: To receive alerts (over-speed, shake, low battery), set an admin number.
    • Command: [your_phone_number][password]_1 (e.g., 132657901800000_1). Reply: SET OK!
    • To cancel: Send D101#. Reply: SET OK!
  • Over-speed Alarm Setting:
    • Command: 1220000[speed] (e.g., 1220000070 for 70km/h). Reply: SET OK!
    • If the unit exceeds the set speed, it will send "speed alarm!" to the admin number every 5 minutes.
    • To cancel: Send 12200000. Reply: SET OK!
  • Shake Alarm Setting:
    • The tracker must be stationary for 5 minutes for this function to activate. It will send "Shock alarm!" to the admin number if shaken.
    • Command: 1810000T[minutes] (e.g., 1810000T10 for 10 minutes). Reply: SET OK!
    • To cancel: Send 1800000. Reply: SET OK!
  • Take Off Alarm Setting (Anti-removal):
    • The tracker has an anti-removal induction sensor on its back. If this sensor is not covered after being removed, it will send "Take off Alarms!" to the admin and SOS numbers.
    • Factory default is ON.
    • To set ON: Send TAKEOFF0000_1. Reply: SET OK!
    • To cancel: Send TAKEOFF0000_0. Reply: SET OK!
  • Terminal Time Setting:
    • Factory setting is GMT 0.
    • Command: 8960000E00 (for GMT 0). Reply: SET OK!
    • Example for GMT +1: 8960000E01
    • Example for GMT -1: 8960000W01
  • Read Configuration Data:
    • Command: RCONF.
    • Reply will include the tracker's ID, work mode, IP and Port, and APN.

4. Online Tracking (Web and Mobile App)

The SinoTrack GPS Tracker supports real-time tracking via a web platform and a dedicated mobile application.

4.1. APN Configuration for Online Tracking

To connect the tracker to the online platform, you need to configure the Access Point Name (APN) of your SIM card. You can find your SIM card's APN content by checking with your SIM card carrier or by inserting the SIM card into a mobile phone.

  • The platform IP is 45.112.204.242 (vip.sinotrack) and port is 8090.
  • Send the following SMS commands to the tracker:
    1. SMS1:7100000
    2. SMS2:8040000_45.112.204.242_8090
    3. If your APN requires a username and password: SMS3:8030000_APN_APNuser_APNpassword
    4. If your APN does not require a username and password: SMS3:8030000_APN
  • You can find a reference for APN settings at http://www.unlockit.co.nz/mobilesettings/.

4.2. Web Platform Tracking

Access the web tracking platform at Pro.SinoTrack.com.

  • Server: VIP.SinoTrack (or select "Auto select")
  • User Name: The ID number found on your tracker.
  • Password: 123456 (default)

4.3. Mobile Application Tracking

Search for "SinoTrack PRO" on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), or scan the QR code below to download the application.

  • Server: Pro.SinoTrack
  • User Name: The ID number found on your tracker.
  • Password: 123456 (default)

If you have multiple SinoTrack GPS trackers and wish to manage them under one account, please contact SinoTrack support. They can create a group account for you, allowing you to monitor all devices simultaneously on the APP/Web platform.

Maintenance

Battery Care

  • The device is equipped with a built-in 3.7V 5000mAh Li-ion battery.
  • Charge the device using a DC 5V==1.0A power source.
  • Battery life varies significantly with the selected working mode:
    • WORK mode: 2-3 days
    • MOVE mode: 4-7 days
    • STANDBY mode: 10-15 days
  • Regular charging is recommended to ensure continuous tracking.

General Care

  • Do not disassemble or reassemble the device without authorization.
  • Keep the device within the specified operating and storage temperature ranges to prevent damage.
  • The device is waterproof, but avoid prolonged submersion or exposure to extreme water pressure.

Troubleshooting

No GPS signalA more open view of the sky is recommended to ensure the device can receive the GPS signal normally.
No reply to SMS commandsPassword might be wrong, or the command format is incorrect.
No reply to calling or no alarm messageAuthorized/admin phone number is incorrect or not set up.
SMS position OK, but cannot use APP/web platformCheck if APN is correctly set. Refer to section 4.1 for APN settings.
No upload position time or GPS signalCall the device phone number and receive the position message. If it has no GPS signal, the position is the last GPS positioning location. If it has GPS signal, it means the device hasn't reached the uploading time.
Platform position differs from actual positionEnsure the device is in an area with good GPS signal. The platform may display the last known position if a current signal is unavailable.

User Tips

  • SIM Card Compatibility: Always ensure your SIM card is a GSM card and has an active data plan for GPRS. Some users reported issues with non-GSM cards or cards without proper data activation.
  • APN Settings: The most common issue is incorrect APN settings. Double-check your carrier's APN details and ensure the SMS command is sent correctly.
  • Outdoor Use: For initial setup and best performance, operate the tracker in an open outdoor area to allow it to acquire a strong GPS signal.
  • Battery Life Management: Choose the working mode that best suits your tracking needs to optimize battery life. "MOVE" mode is a good balance for most users.
  • Multi-Device Management: If you manage a fleet, contact SinoTrack support to set up a free group account for centralized monitoring.
