3. Setup
3.1 Initial Charging
The multimeter comes with a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery. Before first use, or if the battery indicator shows low power, charge the device using the provided USB charging cable.
- Connect the USB charging cable to the charging port on the multimeter.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
- The charging indicator light will illuminate. Once fully charged, the light may change color or turn off.

3.2 Connecting Test Leads
For most measurements (except NCV and Live Check), the test leads must be connected.
- Insert the red test lead into the 'INPUT' terminal.
- Insert the black test lead into the 'COM' terminal.
- Ensure connections are firm before proceeding with any measurements.
4. Operating Instructions
The BSIDE A1X features both Smart Mode (Auto) and Manual Mode for various measurements.
4.1 Power On/Off
- Press the Power button (red button with power symbol) to turn the multimeter ON.
- Press and hold the Power button to turn the multimeter OFF.
- The device has an auto-power-off feature to conserve battery.
4.2 Smart Mode (AUTO)
In Smart Mode, the multimeter automatically identifies and measures AC/DC voltage, resistance, and continuity.
- Turn on the multimeter. It will typically start in AUTO mode.
- Connect the test leads to the circuit or component you wish to measure.
- The multimeter will automatically detect the type of measurement and display the result.

4.3 Manual Mode Selection
To select specific functions manually, press the AUTO SEL button (blue button on the right) to cycle through available modes. The display will show the active mode icon.

4.4 Specific Measurement Functions
AC Voltage Measurement:
Connect test leads to the AC source. The multimeter will automatically measure AC voltage in Smart Mode. The display will show a red backlight if high voltage is detected.

Multimeter displaying AC voltage measurement with a red backlight indicating a live circuit. DC Voltage Measurement:
Connect test leads to the DC source. The multimeter will automatically measure DC voltage in Smart Mode.
Resistance Measurement:
Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect test leads across the component. The multimeter will measure resistance in Smart Mode.
Continuity Test:
Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Connect test leads across the circuit path. If resistance is less than 50Ω, the beeper will sound, and the display will show a green backlight.
Capacitance Measurement:
Before measuring, ensure the capacitor is fully discharged. Select Capacitance mode (if not in Smart Mode). Connect test leads to the capacitor terminals.

Multimeter performing a capacitance test on a component. Diode Test:
Select Diode mode. Connect the red lead to the anode and the black lead to the cathode. The forward voltage drop will be displayed.

Multimeter demonstrating both capacitance and diode testing capabilities. V-Alert (Non-Contact Voltage Detection):
This function allows detection of AC voltage without direct contact. The sensitivity is adjustable (High and Low mode). Hold the top of the multimeter near the conductor. The LED at the top will flash, and the device will beep if voltage is detected. The backlight will turn red.

Comparison of direct voltage testing and non-contact voltage detection using the multimeter. Live Wire Check:
Select Live mode. Use the red test lead to touch the suspected live wire. The display will indicate 'LIVE' and the backlight will turn red if a live wire is detected.
4.5 Flashlight and Backlight
- Press the Flashlight/Backlight switch button (blue button with light bulb symbol) to turn the LED flashlight ON/OFF.
- The display backlight automatically adjusts or can be manually toggled. The backlight color changes (red/green) based on the measurement or detection status.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Wipe the device with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
5.2 Battery Care
The built-in Li-ion battery should be charged regularly, especially if the device is not used for extended periods, to maintain battery health. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
5.3 Storage
Store the multimeter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If a carrying bag was included, use it to protect the device and leads.

6. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the USB charging cable and try again.
- Inaccurate readings: Check if test leads are properly connected. Ensure the correct measurement mode is selected (or rely on Smart Mode). Verify the component or circuit is properly isolated for resistance/continuity/capacitance tests.
- No NCV detection: Ensure the V-Alert mode is active. Adjust sensitivity if needed.
- Display is dim or flickering: The battery might be low. Recharge the device.
