4. Setup

4.1 Connecting to the Vehicle

  1. Locate your vehicle's OBDII port. This is typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side.
  2. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is OFF.
  3. Connect the OBDII dedicated cable from the CY3001 device to the vehicle's OBDII port.
  4. Turn the vehicle's ignition to the ON position (engine can be off). The device will power on automatically.

4.2 Bluetooth Connection (Optional)

The CY3001 supports Bluetooth connectivity for enhanced functionality. Refer to the "Bluetooth Mode" section in the operating instructions for detailed pairing steps with compatible applications or devices.

5. Operating Instructions

Once connected, the device will display the Main Menu. Use the Up/Down buttons to navigate and the Confirm button to select an option.

5.1 Main Menu Options

  • Diagnose: Access the diagnostic functions to read and clear fault codes, view live data, and more.
  • DTC Lookup: Look up Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and their definitions.

5.2 Diagnostic Menu

From the "Diagnose" option, you can access the following functions:

  • Read Codes: Displays current, pending, and permanent Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
  • Erase Codes: Clears all DTCs from the vehicle's computer and turns off the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
  • View Freeze Frame: Shows a snapshot of sensor readings when a fault code was set.
  • I/M Readiness: Checks the status of emission-related monitoring systems.
  • Vehicle Info: Retrieves vehicle identification number (VIN), calibration ID (CALID), and calibration verification number (CVN).
  • Data Stream: Displays real-time live data from the vehicle's sensors.

5.3 DTC Lookup

Select "DTC Lookup" from the Main Menu. Enter the DTC (e.g., P0000) using the navigation buttons to view its definition.

5.4 Tool Setup

In "Tool Setup", you can:

  • Language: Change the display language. The device supports multiple languages including English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, German, French, Chinese, and Italian.
  • Unit of Measure: Switch between metric and imperial units.

6. Maintenance
