8. Troubleshooting & FAQ
Q: How can I receive alarm messages?
A: To receive alarm messages, ensure the following:
- Click the enable button in the upper right corner of the channel's main page in the app.
- Enable Imou Notifications via "Settings" -> "Notifications" on your iPhone or "Me" -> "Settings" -> "Notice" on the Imou APP.
- Enable Event in the device settings. Motion detection, for example, should be enabled and its time schedule valid.
- Make sure the device is connected to the Internet.
- After successfully subscribing, you will receive messages.
Q: Why is the night image all black?
A: Possible reasons and solutions:
- IR LED didn't light up.
- ICR didn't switch to night mode.
- Objects are too far away from the camera.
If the IR LED did light up but you cannot hear a "KA" sound, there might be an issue with the ICR. For consumer cameras, the IR distance is typically less than 10m (differs between models), so objects beyond this range may not be visible at night.
Q: The app says "Failed to bind"?
A: This usually means your device is already successfully connected to your Wi-Fi but failed to add to your Imou account. Double-check if your router is connected to the Internet. The internet connection might be unstable.
Q: How to add my camera to a new Imou account?
A: For security reasons, a camera can only be bound to one Imou account at a time. To add it to a new account, you must first delete it from the previous account:
- Method 1 (Mobile App): Go to the preview page, click the gear icon on the top right, go to device settings page, slide to the bottom, then click "Delete Device".
- Method 2 (Mobile App): Go to "Me" -> "My Device" -> select the corresponding device -> slide to the bottom -> click "Delete Device".
Q: I changed my Wi-Fi, how do I connect my camera to the new Wi-Fi?
A:
- First, check if your camera has an Ethernet port and if you have an Ethernet cable. If yes, power on your camera and connect it to your router with the Ethernet cable. Wait until the LED turns stably blue to ensure it has access to the Internet. Then, log in to your Imou account, find your IPC on the "Device" page, go to its settings page, tap "Wi-Fi Config", and you can connect it to your new Wi-Fi.
- If your camera has no Ethernet port or you don't have a cable, you must reset your camera to factory default, then set up your camera again with the new Wi-Fi network.
Q: What is the difference between SD memory card and cloud storage?
A:
- SD Card: Requires a computer to read history monitoring. Records are automatically deleted and overwritten when the card is full.
- Cloud Storage: A value-added service, often with a free trial. You can view history directly in the app. Records may be automatically deleted after a certain period (e.g., 3 or 7 days) if not subscribed or if the trial expires.
9. User Tips
- Stable Internet Connection: A strong and stable Wi-Fi connection is crucial for reliable performance, especially for app binding and receiving timely alerts.
- Optimal Night Vision: For best night vision results, ensure there are no obstructions directly in front of the camera's IR LEDs. If the night image is consistently dark, check the IR LEDs and consider the effective IR range.
- Account Management: Always delete the camera from your Imou account before attempting to add it to a new account or if you are transferring ownership.
- Wi-Fi Changes: When changing your Wi-Fi network, resetting the camera to factory defaults and re-adding it is often the most straightforward solution if an Ethernet connection is not feasible.
- Storage Options: For continuous and secure recording, consider utilizing the cloud storage service, especially if you need longer retention periods or off-site backup.
