1. Important Safety Information

Please read this manual carefully before installing or using your Karinear ceramic hob. Keep it for future reference.

  • This appliance is designed for domestic use only.
  • Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with local regulations. The product is hard-wired and does not come with a plug.
  • Ensure the power supply voltage (220-240V) and frequency (50Hz/60Hz) match the appliance requirements.
  • Do not operate the hob if the ceramic glass surface is cracked or broken. Disconnect from power immediately.
  • Keep children away from the appliance during operation and while it is cooling down. The hob features a child safety lock.
  • The hob has a residual heat indicator; the surface remains hot after use.
  • Do not store flammable materials on or near the hob.
  • The appliance is equipped with multiple protection features including automatic shutdown, overheating protection, and voltage/current protection.
  • Do not clean the hob with abrasive materials.

4. Installation and Setup

This ceramic hob is a built-in appliance and requires professional installation. It is hard-wired and does not include a plug. Please ensure the installation area meets the specified dimensions and electrical requirements.

4.1 Cutout Dimensions

Before installation, ensure your countertop cutout matches the integrated dimensions:

  • Width: 490 mm

4.2 Electrical Connection

The appliance requires a 220-240V hard-wired connection. A 5-wire cable is provided. The wiring must be performed by a qualified electrician according to the diagram below and local electrical codes.

Warning: Incorrect wiring can lead to electric shock or fire. Always consult a professional electrician.

5. Operation

The Karinear ceramic hob features intuitive touch controls for easy operation.

5.1 Basic Controls

The control panel includes touch-sensitive buttons for power, individual burner selection, power level adjustment (+/-), and timer functions. Refer to Figure 2.1 for a visual representation of the control panel.

5.2 Power Levels

Select a burner and use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the power level from 1 to 9. Level 1 is for gentle simmering, while level 9 provides maximum heat for rapid boiling or frying.

5.3 Timer Function

  1. Select the desired burner.
  2. Press the timer button (usually indicated by a clock icon).
  3. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the desired cooking time, from 0 to 99 minutes.
  4. The hob will automatically switch off the selected burner once the timer expires.

5.4 Child Lock

Activate the child lock to prevent accidental operation, especially by children. When the child lock is active, all control functions are disabled. Refer to the control panel for the child lock icon (often a padlock) and instructions on how to activate/deactivate it.

5.5 Automatic Safety Features

  • Automatic Shutdown: The hob will automatically turn off after a certain period of inactivity or if a cooking zone is left on for an extended duration without adjustment.
  • Overheating Protection: If the hob detects excessive temperature, it will automatically reduce power or shut down to prevent damage.
  • Residual Heat Indicator: After a cooking zone is turned off, an 'H' will appear on the display if the surface is still hot, indicating caution.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ceramic hob.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Always ensure the hob is cool before cleaning. The residual heat indicator ('H') must be off.
  • Wipe the ceramic glass surface with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent.
  • For stubborn stains, use a ceramic hob cleaner.
  • Do not use abrasive sponges, scouring pads, or harsh chemical cleaners, as these can scratch or damage the glass surface.
  • The product includes a scraper tool for removing burnt-on food residues. Use it carefully at an angle to avoid scratching.

6.2 General Maintenance

  • Inspect the hob regularly for any signs of damage or wear.
  • Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked.
  • If the hob is not functioning correctly, refer to the troubleshooting section or contact customer support.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Karinear ceramic hob, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Measure Your Cutout: Before purchasing or installing, carefully measure the dimensions of your existing countertop cutout to ensure a perfect fit for the 560 x 490 mm integrated size.
  • Professional Installation: Due to the hard-wired nature and electrical requirements, always opt for professional installation to ensure safety and compliance with local codes.
  • Use Flat-Bottomed Cookware: For optimal heat transfer and efficiency, always use pots and pans with flat bottoms that make full contact with the ceramic surface.
  • Clean Spills Immediately: While the hob is easy to clean, wiping up spills as soon as they occur (after the hob has cooled) can prevent stubborn stains and burnt-on residue.
