4. Installation

WARNING: Installation of automotive electronic components should be performed by a qualified professional to avoid damage to the vehicle or the instrument.

  1. Preparation: Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and the battery is disconnected before beginning installation.
  2. Locate Mounting Position: Identify the designated central display slot in your Mitsubishi Pajero Montero dashboard. This unit is designed to fit specific models (MK2 V31, V32, V33, V43).
  3. Connect Wiring: Carefully connect the vehicle's existing wiring harness to the corresponding ports on the rear of the display instrument. Refer to your vehicle's service manual for specific wiring diagrams if needed.
  4. Secure Unit: Gently slide the display instrument into its mounting position until it clicks securely into place. Ensure all clips and fasteners are engaged.
  5. Reconnect Power: Reconnect the vehicle's battery and turn the ignition to the 'ON' position.
  6. Test Functionality: Verify that all gauges (thermometer, altimeter, inclinometer, barometric pressure) power on and display readings correctly.

5. Operating the Instrument

The central display instrument provides real-time data through its three primary gauges:

  • Thermometer (Left Gauge): Displays the outside ambient temperature. Readings are typically in Celsius or Fahrenheit, depending on the unit's original configuration.
  • Altimeter & Inclinometer (Center Gauge): The central gauge combines an altimeter (showing current altitude) and an inclinometer (indicating the vehicle's pitch and roll angles). The blue scale typically represents altitude, while the red/orange indicator shows the vehicle's inclination.
  • Barometric Pressure (Right Gauge): Displays the current atmospheric pressure. This can be useful for weather forecasting or understanding changes in altitude.

No user calibration is typically required for these dismount units, as they are designed to function with the vehicle's existing sensors and systems.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the display surface. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the plastic and display.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the unit's mounting and electrical connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.
  • Environmental Conditions: While designed for automotive use, extreme temperatures or prolonged direct sunlight can affect the unit's lifespan.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Unit Not Powering On:
    • Check the vehicle's fuse box for any blown fuses related to the dashboard or accessory power.
    • Verify that the electrical connections at the rear of the instrument are securely seated.
    • Ensure the vehicle's battery is properly connected and charged.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • For temperature, ensure no external heat sources are directly affecting the sensor (if applicable).
    • For altimeter/barometric pressure, significant weather changes can affect readings.
    • If readings are consistently incorrect, consult a professional automotive technician.
  • Display Issues (e.g., flickering, dimness):
    • Check vehicle's electrical system for voltage fluctuations.
    • Ensure proper illumination for night visibility.

8. User Tips

  • As this is a dismount product, it is highly recommended to thoroughly test all functions (thermometer, altimeter, inclinometer, barometric pressure, and illumination) immediately after installation to ensure satisfactory operation.
  • Ensure the unit's illumination is adequate for clear visibility during night driving.
